Research Project Manager

Job at University of Leeds in Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS2

Are you an ambitious and motivated project manager looking for your next challenge?  Do you have a background in a clinical research environment? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research-intensive Universities?

Located within the School of Medicine and Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine, and working closely with the Chief Investigator of £1.4 million NIHR-funded HERITAGE project on Long Covid and ME/CFS, you will provide strategic vision for coordinating the multisite project that aims to provide better healthcare services for those suffering from these conditions across the UK.

This post is pivotal in planning and delivering the project research strategy. As the Research Project Manager, you will work closely with leading researchers both within and outside of Leeds to contribute to the development and implementation of the research objectives. In particular, you will coordinate and deliver specific initiatives relating to three work packages supported by the project: understanding outcomes using patient-reported outcome measures, cost-effectiveness of existing healthcare models and developing a national service framework for these two conditions. This is a UK-wide project which involves working closely with all other collaborating universities and NHS sites. In addition, you will liaise with NIHR, external stakeholders, and policymakers to gather strategic intelligence and maximise the outputs and impact of the research project. We expect you to be one of the spokespersons for the research programme, which aligns with both the University of Leeds/School of Medicine strategy and national and international perspectives.

You must be educated to degree level in a relevant subject area and have experience of a coordination or management role in a research environment. Excellent organisational skills, demonstrated by a proven ability to support a range of different projects simultaneously, are required. The nature of the work is hybrid, with most of the duties that can be managed remotely using virtual team meeting facilities, and the core research team meetings take place one to two days a week, face-to-face in the LIRMM office in Chapel Allerton Hospital, Leeds.

Please note that this post may be suitable for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route but first-time applicants might need to qualify for salary concessions. For more information please visit: www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa
