The Role To monitor and influence UK, EU, and international policy debates, including financial regulatory debates, so as to protect and promote Lloyd regulatory, trading and commercial interests and reputation. Principal Accountabilities Protect and promote Lloyd access to insurance and reinsurance business worldwide. Support and contribute to Lloyd engagement with financial regulators in the UK (PRA, FCA), EU (EIOPA), and at international standard setting body level (IAIS). Support and contribute to Lloyd engagement with UK, EU and international government departments and policymakers, including MPs, civil servants (principally HM Treasury and Department of Business and Trade), MEPs, and European Commission officials. Represent and protect Lloyd interests through proactive engagement with UK and international business and trade organisations, including the City of London Corporation, TheCityUK, the London Market Group, Lloyd Market Association, Insurance Europe, the Global Federation of Insurance Associations and Geneva Association. Make a significant contribution to the development of Lloyd policy positions on UK and international legal and regulatory issues and co-ordinate Lloyd submissions to UK and EU financial regulators on relevant policy files. Monitor and influence UK, EU and international legal and regulatory debates, seeking to maintain Lloyd ability to trade globally, profitably and competitively. Monitor international, EU and UK legal and regulatory consultative exercises and contribute to the preparation of Lloyd responses to relevant consultations. Monitor and influence UK trade policy, including trade with the EU, aiming to reduce legal and regulatory obstacles to the Lloyd market access to (re)insurance business. Prepare briefings and other appropriate information for Lloyd (and Lloyd Europe) senior management and other Lloyd staff on the issues for which GPA is responsible, providing technical advice and politically informed guidance when appropriate. Skills Ability to write clearly and persuasively about policy and regulatory issues to relevant internal and external stakeholders. Ability to communicate detailed technical issues effectively to the market, policymakers, regulators, senior staff and other key stakeholders. Ability to conduct in-depth research into legal, regulatory or societal questions. Ability to present to stakeholders at all levels of seniority. Ability to undertake self-directed work when the need arises. Ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines. Ability to form networks of relevant subject matter experts and policy professionals to help inform Lloyd positions on policy issues. Knowledge Understanding of the UK political system, legislative process and regulatory structure. Understanding of the role and workings of the EU institutions and international organisations, including the IAIS, OECD and WTO. Knowledge of the dynamics of international (re)insurance business and markets. Broad perspective on UK, EU, and international insurance policy and regulatory developments, and awareness of the linkages between policy developments and broader societal issues.
