WHAT TO EXPECT
With an increasing emphasis on Systems Engineering and virtual development techniques, the Body Chassis Engineering department utilises advanced AVA (Associative Vehicle Architecture) CAD and CAE to support the product development process. A role within the Lids CoC involves working with a wide range of materials and construction techniques, challenging functional and commercial targets and significant liaison with all internal areas of our business, as well as external component and system suppliers.
This role is within the ‘Rear Lids and Concept Creation’ team, in which the components that the team are specifically responsible for are Tailgate assemblies, Split Tailgates, Taildoors, Rear Mechs, Power Closures. As a Senior Engineer Body CAD/AVA, you would be expected to deliver the geometry for one or more of these components from concept creation through to production release, depending upon programme content.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Lead the concept creation delivery of vehicle programme geometry Lead geometry design reviews for the Lids commodities Liaise with suppliers and JLR internal manufacturing functions, to ensure geometry is feasible and meets Engineering and Design requirements Liaise with internal customers to ensure component geometric compatibility Use AVA (Associative Vehicle Architecture) and power copy tools to improve part definition
WHAT TO EXPECT
Strong capability in using Virtual Engineering tools CATIA V6 / 3D Experience Experience of designing automotive sheet metal (B.I.W.) components and working within formability guidelines and joining methods Strong ability to interpret and translate between 2D sketches and 3D digital form Ability to describe complex geometric conditions and solutions in both verbal terminology and graphical form Experience in the creation of digital engineering models representative of Design surface intent
