Job Description Job Title: Senior Finance Business Partner – Services (Level B) Working Pattern: Full time Working location: Derby - Hybrid This high-impact role puts you at the heart of decision-making, shaping the financial strategy of the existing UK submarine fleet. You’ll have significant influence, driving commercial decisions in a critical national security sector. Beyond the numbers, your work will support the Defence of the UK, ensuring the Royal Navy fleet remains operational while maintaining financial control and collaborating with key industry partners to develop a new revenue stream. This role sits within the Services Delivery Business Unit (DBU), which is responsible for maintaining, servicing, and safe operation of the Royal Navy submarine fleet. There is also an upcoming strategically important campaign that requires both business and financial acumen to support. . Supported by a manager and a Business Support Team, you’ll have the resources to drive successful projects, identify gaps, and lead critical actions that shape the future of submarine services. With a strong commercial focus, you’ll work closely with stakeholders to manage contracts, assess financial risks, and support long-term trading in a highly regulated and complex environment. What you will be doing As a Senior Finance Business Partner, you’ll Take ownership of financial control, ensuring strong P&L and Balance Sheet management, contract oversight, and strategic financial planning. Drive commercial decision-making, working closely with stakeholders to assess risks, optimise contracts, and enhance long-term business performance. Lead and influence key projects, identifying gaps, implementing improvements, and ensuring successful financial outcomes. Work at a senior level, gaining exposure to leadership and contributing to the future direction of submarine services. To be successful in this role, you will need to: Be a qualified accountant with proven experience and time served in a financial leadership role. Have experience with long-term contract accounting (IFRS 15), understanding complex financial arrangements and their implications. Demonstrate a strong commercial mindset, using financial insight to drive business performance and strategic decision-making. Be an effective leader, with proven experience in managing and guiding teams at a senior level. Have demonstrated the ability to both set and manage to a budget and forecast It is desirable, but not essential, that you have knowledge or experience with: Single Source Contract Regulations (SSCR) and their application within government contracts.
