Job at Lidl in Greater London

Discover a Rewarding Career Path: Senior Consultant (Planetary Health Diet) at Lidl

Lidl is seeking a passionate and experienced individual to drive their ambitious "Planetary Health Diet" strategy. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated professional to make a tangible impact on healthy and sustainable eating, contributing to Lidl's commitment to producers, people, and the planet. If you're ready to lead the way in a critical area of sustainability and excel in a dynamic retail environment, this role could be your next career move.

What This Opportunity Offers You:

This role presents a compelling blend of impactful work and attractive benefits:

  • Competitive Remuneration: A salary ranging from £57,200 to £79,200 per annum*, reflecting the importance and seniority of this position.
  • Generous Holiday Allowance: Enjoy 35 days of holiday (pro rata) to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance.
  • Employee Discounts: Benefit from a 10% in-store discount, a fantastic perk for your everyday shopping.
  • Comprehensive Pension Scheme: Secure your future with a robust pension offering.
  • Hybrid Working Model: Experience the best of both worlds with a hybrid approach, offering up to two days of remote work alongside three or more days in a state-of-the-art office equipped with an on-site gym and restaurant. This model is designed to foster both productivity and well-being.
  • Career Development: This temporary assignment (14 months, starting March 1st, 2026) provides a focused opportunity to deepen your expertise and demonstrate your leadership in a highly sought-after field. It's an excellent stepping stone for further advancements in sustainability and nutrition within the food industry.
  • Meaningful Impact: Directly contribute to Lidl's strategic focus on "Lead the Way on Healthy & Sustainable diets." Your work will be instrumental in shaping how Lidl delivers on its sustainability goals.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path:

To thrive in this role and maximize its potential for your career, consider the following:

  • Subject Matter Expertise: A strong academic foundation (Degree in nutrition or a closely related field, with AfN accreditation desirable) and a minimum of 5 years of food industry experience are essential. Deep knowledge of policy and regulation related to HFSS, reformulation, labelling, and public health is crucial for guiding the business effectively.
  • Proactive & Driven Approach: The role requires a "can do attitude" and the ability to act as a self-starter. You'll be expected to drive the implementation of the "Planetary Health Diet" strategy across various departments, requiring confidence and initiative.
  • Project Management & Collaboration: A proven track record in developing and managing projects that drive impactful change towards the Planetary Health Diet is key. Strong collaborative skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with both internal teams (buying, quality, marketing, sustainability) and external stakeholders (governmental bodies, industry partners, NGOs) will be vital for success.
  • Data Analysis Skills: You'll need to work with internal datasets to track progress and ensure a data-driven approach to strategy. The ability to handle and analyze complex data is therefore a significant advantage.
  • Language Skills: While not essential, German language skills are desirable and could enhance your ability to engage with international teams or partners.
  • Temporary Assignment: Understand that this is a 14-month temporary assignment. This can be an excellent way to gain specialized experience, expand your network, and achieve specific career goals within a defined timeframe.

This Senior Consultant position at Lidl offers a compelling opportunity for a dedicated professional to leverage their expertise in healthy and sustainable diets within a leading retail organization. If you are motivated by making a difference, possess the required skills and experience, and are looking for a role that offers both professional challenge and rewarding benefits, we encourage you to explore this exciting prospect.
