Senior Technical Specialist - OBIEE

Job at SSE in Hampshire, England

Embark on a Rewarding Career as a Corporate Solutions BI Senior Technical Specialist at SSE

Are you a highly motivated and versatile BI professional seeking a challenging and impactful role within a forward-thinking energy company? SSE is actively seeking a Corporate Solutions BI Senior Technical Specialist to join their dynamic Corporate Solutions Delivery and Support Group. This permanent, full-time position offers flexible working options and is based in one of three key locations: Havant, Reading, or Perth.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to SSE's ambitious vision of becoming a leading energy company in a net-zero world. You will play a crucial role in supporting and developing SSE's Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE 12g) implementation, a critical platform for surfacing vital operational data across numerous business functions including Payroll, HR, Finance, and Logistics. Reporting to the Corporate Solutions BI Team Leader, you will be instrumental in managing, supporting, and enhancing ETL batch schedules, as well as developing and maintaining ETL processes, the repository, reports, and user dashboards.

What This Opportunity Offers You:

  • Significant Impact: Contribute to the operational efficiency of a major energy company by ensuring the integrity and accessibility of crucial business intelligence data.
  • Technical Growth: Deepen your expertise in OBIEE 12g and gain valuable experience with Oracle eBusiness Suite (v12.2.9), specifically the "Harmony" instance.
  • Agile Environment: Embrace agile methodologies in your day-to-day work, fostering innovation and efficient delivery of change.
  • Mentorship and Development: Actively participate in coaching and mentoring processes, both as a provider and recipient, supporting your continuous professional development.
  • Attractive Remuneration and Benefits: A competitive salary ranging from £61,620 to £72,592 is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your family, finances, and overall wellbeing. These benefits include discounts on private healthcare and gym memberships, a free online GP, 24/7 counselling services, interest-free loans for tech and transport, and generous family entitlements like enhanced maternity/adoption pay and paternity leave.
  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: SSE is dedicated to fostering an open and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. They are an equal opportunity employer and actively encourage applications from individuals from all backgrounds, particularly those who may be underrepresented in the industry.

Key Considerations for Aspiring Candidates:

  • Technical Proficiency: A strong foundation in OBIEE 12c development is essential. Experience with Oracle eBusiness Suite modules and ETL tooling for data manipulation, including SQL tuning, will be highly advantageous.
  • System Support Acumen: Proven experience in supporting business-critical systems within a medium to large organization is crucial. You should possess a solid understanding of end-to-end design processes and the ability to apply them to complex projects.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to diagnose and resolve incidents and problems effectively, taking ownership of critical management processes (red alert, incident, and problem management), is paramount.
  • Customer Focus: A genuine commitment to providing first-class customer service is expected, as you will be supporting internal stakeholders and their BI needs.
  • Adaptability and Versatility: This is a challenging role that requires an enthusiastic, committed, and versatile individual capable of adapting to evolving demands and methodologies.

If you are a self-motivated BI specialist looking to make a tangible difference and grow your career within a company committed to a sustainable future, this role at SSE presents a compelling opportunity. SSE is dedicated to ensuring a positive application experience and will make any reasonable adjustments needed to support your journey.
