Warehouse Shift Manager Opportunity: Drive Excellence at Rexel's Flagship Distribution Centre

Are you a results-oriented and customer-focused leader with a passion for operational excellence? Rexel is seeking a dedicated Warehouse Shift Manager to take the helm of our Cables & Containment team at our state-of-the-art Flagship Aylesbury Distribution Centre. This is a pivotal role where you will be instrumental in shaping the day-to-day success of a vital operational area, contributing directly to our commitment to customer satisfaction and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities and Strategic Impact

In this dynamic role, you will be empowered to:

  • Operational Oversight: Spearhead the planning and execution of daily warehouse activities, ensuring seamless management of picking, packing, and despatch for both customer and branch orders.
  • Customer Centricity: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to consistently deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Motivate, train, and develop your team, fostering a high-performance culture aligned with company policies and procedures. You'll be responsible for staff planning, retention, and ensuring the well-being and productivity of your direct reports.
  • Operational Strategy & Efficiency: Contribute to the implementation of overarching operational strategies, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement. You will play a key role in driving lean principles to enhance processes, eliminate waste, and maximise efficiency.
  • Performance Management: Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure targets are met, including meticulous tracking and reporting of shift performance.
  • Health, Safety & Security: Uphold the highest standards of health & safety, site security, and stock integrity, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and quality standards.
  • Cost Management: Effectively control and monitor operational costs within your area of responsibility, including overtime and transport expenses.
  • Technology Utilization: Leverage RF and HHT technology to optimise stock placement, accuracy, and overall throughput efficiency.
  • Communication: Facilitate clear and consistent communication across your shift through regular feedback and team briefings, ensuring all colleagues are informed of business updates and operational changes.

Who You Are: Essential Skills and Experience

To thrive in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • A strong understanding of Health & Safety, environmental, and/or quality standards within a distribution setting.
  • Proven experience in managing warehouse operations and leading teams, with a demonstrable ability to sustain motivation and foster development.
  • Exceptional multitasking abilities and a commitment to achieving deadlines.
  • Previous experience in inventory control.
  • Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); M3 knowledge would be advantageous.
  • Awareness and practical application of lean techniques for process improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills (spoken and written English) and strong numeracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • A strong ability to analyse data and ensure a high degree of accuracy.
