Stewardship Officer (Grant Writer)

The Stewardship Officer (Grant Writer) will play an important role in securing external funding to support the strategic fundraising priorities of the University. The postholder will research, develop and write compelling, high-quality funding proposals to trusts, foundations, corporates and other grant-making bodies raising vital funds. They will manage a portfolio of active and prospective funders, identify new opportunities and develop tailored strategies to maximise success. The postholder will also contribute to stewardship activity by preparing progress reports and impact reports for funders, strengthening long-term relationships and supporting the growth of the University’s philanthropic income. 

As a Stewardship Officer you can expect to be involved in : 

Managing a portfolio of active and prospective funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, corporates and other external bodies, developing tailored strategies and timelines to secure grants in support of the University. Research and identify new sources of funding, monitoring calls for proposals and eligibility criteria, and pro-actively matching opportunities to university projects, academic expertise and institutional priorities.Writing high-quality, clearly articulated grant proposals, working closely with academic and professional services colleagues to ensure accuracy.Collaborating with colleagues from across the university to prepare budgets, gather project information and ensure all submissions meet internal and funder requirements. 

What will you bring to the role ?

First degree or equivalent experience of working in a similar roleSignificant fundraising experience and proven track record or securing philanthropic income at the five-figure level and aboveKnowledge of fundraising through Trusts and Foundations and Corporates Demonstrated success in managing a complex donor portfolio Excellent IT skills, particularly MS Office packages, and confidence in using contact databases
