OverviewOver the summer period, the Facilities department will be welcoming a high number of conference guests to the University. These bookings will vary from International Summer School’s visiting Worcester to groups booking Conference Events using the University’s facilities. This increase in demand creates several opportunities for Students who are looking to gain work experience, becoming part of an additional summer team which plays a key role in supporting the smooth running of the university and contributing to several areas of operational support.
This role will require the post holders to be highly motivated and flexible when meeting the business needs across 7 days a week and have availability to work over the summer period between June and September 2025. This type of paid work is an ideal way for individuals to enhance their CV. Training and support is provided where appropriate. Evening and weekend work will be required, and some activities may require an appropriate level of physical fitness.
BackgroundThe Facilities Department covers a wide range of services within University of Worcester, including Accommodation, Conferencing, Reception, Estates, Commercial bookings and Catering, Security Operations, which includes Cleaning, Campus Service, Grounds & Security. This role specifically relates to the Estates team.
This role will provide operational support to the Estates department to support the ongoing maintenance and compliance of the University Estate. An example of such duties may be:
Carry out regular flushing of little used water outlets such as taps and showers. Recording of flushing tasks.Taking and recording of water temperatures across the estate.Supporting the maintenance team in regular servicing across the summer period.Your place of work will be the University of Worcester. You will be required to work at premises which the University currently has or may subsequently acquire or any premises at which it may from time to time provide services. The university has various sites around Worcester which include St Johns, Battenhall, Stephenson Terrace, Grove Farm, City Centre, Lakeside, University Arena & Riverside and the Three Counties Medical School. Applicants may be required to work on any of these sites.
