JOB TITLE Operational Planning Leader LOCATION Port Sunlight office & factories WORK-LEVEL 1S JOB PURPOSE The Operational Planning Team Leader reports to the Port Sunlight Customer Service & Planning Manager. They manage a small team consisting of: Schedulers, who are responsible for both medium-term production planning and short-term line scheduling. The role is very much customer-focussed. Production plans are created in SAP APO using the optimiser functionality. Plans need to be balanced to provide the right trade-off between customer service, inventory, cost and operational performance. Innovation planners, who are responsible for planning the flow of new products and materials into the sourcing units, together with the phasing out of de-listed products and materials. The role is both customer and supplier focussed. Implementing change on time and in-full, as well as ensuring the residual and obsolete stocks are minimised are an essential part of this role. RESPONSIBILITIES The operational planning team leader is responsible for co-ordinating all activities within the SU planning team. Their key responsibilities include: Leadership & support for the operational planning team. Training & functional support to up-skill the team. Understanding and use of SAP APO to support the schedulers. Understanding and use of SAP R/3 in support of planning activities. Signing off the agreed production plans and line schedules for the sourcing unit. Management and resolution of short- & medium-term planning issues that impact on the sourcing unit. First point of contact of all stakeholders for medium-term planning issues. Ensuring 100% compliance with the TRUST tool to provide effective communication to MSO planners Issuing critical 1-page reports to support the communication & management of major service risks. Developing and agreeing effective run strategies that balance customer service, inventory and cost. Signing-off incremental volume opportunities from MSO or category planners when they arise. Recommendation and sign-off of crewing changes with the operations manager. Ownership of Kaizen activities to support improvements in customer service, output reliability and stock reduction. Leading the activities for step 1 of the Customer Service & Logistics Pillar of WCM. Sign-off of plans for innovation and change, including main plant trials. Agreement of obsolete provisions with category planning. Management of obsoletes and write-offs. The Key Performance Indicators include: CCFOT, Despatch Rate, Stock Availability and Supply Related Losses to manage Customer Service. Finished Goods, Raw & Packaging Material Stocks to manage Inventories. Output Reliability to manage conformance to the weekly production schedule. Write-Off values to manage waste in obsolescence of materials. For any sourcing unit leadership role there are general responsibilities which include: SAFETY. Understanding and compliance to OSHE procedures, including the reporting of incidents, support with the investigation of incidents, and Safety Behavioural Audits. QUALITY. Understanding and compliance with Quality procedures. When incidents arise, understanding and communicating the impact of the incident, and putting in place new plans that help minimise the impact of the incident to the customers. ALL ABOUT YOU SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Core Skills for SU Planning. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent analytical skills, with advanced use of Excel. Understanding & application of SAP S1P and SAP APO.
