The University has begun work on a multi-year Strategic Major Project (SMP) on assessment that aims to advance assessment thinking and practice across the institution. The project will build upon existing effective assessment, feedback practices, and provide a range of enhancement activities and professional development to support good assessment design and delivery.
Part of our activity is supporting the development of resources related to the use of generative artificial intelligence in education.
The purpose of this role is to assist in the development of these resources for staff and students that offer support on AI literacy and raise awareness of the University’s position on the use of generative AI in education. Drawing on appropriate expertise in online and other materials creation, and institutional/sector expertise, you will work with the Academic Lead for GenAI in education to develop support resources for staff and students.

Support the objectives, priorities, and activities of the Advancing Assessment Strategic Major Project and development work in GenAI in Education by planning, designing, and delivering development activities and resources for staff involved in education.Develop, co-design or provide an appropriate level of input and guidance into an online resource aimed at enhancing student AI literacy. Ensure resources and activities are accessible and align with institutional policies, frameworks, processes and guidance.Maintain an awareness of ongoing national and international developments, literature and best practice in relation to GenAI in educationLeadership, Management and Engagement Contribution:
Building on the Leadership, Management and Engagement contributions inherent in other Level 4 activities:
Plan and prioritise own work effectively.Undertake defined tasks and contribute effectively to team and project work.Any other duties as allocated by the line manager following consultation with the post holder.Essential Skills:
Substantial and practical knowledge and experience of developing digital resources and online teaching materials use authoring tools such as Articulate within higher education. Select and apply appropriate design and teaching methods, drawing on applicable guidance and training, to achieve defined learning outcomes.Practical knowledge and experience of using AI within education The required level of knowledge and understanding will normally have been gained through some or all of the following: work experience, Vocational training, Formal qualification(s) equivalent to Level 7 or 8 of the Regulated Qualifications Framework e.g. master’s degree, postgraduate certificate, diploma, PhD in Education or Level 7 or 8 award, certificate, diploma.Delegates and/or collaborates effectively, understanding the strengths and weaknesses of colleagues.Works proactively with colleagues and other stakeholders, within and beyond the University, to achieve outcomes.Communicates effectively to develop understanding and achieve cooperation.Provides clear advice, guidance and recommendations on novel or complex concepts and issues.Demonstrates exemplary attention to detail in the production of written contentPlans and progresses education activities within broad guidelines and established University policies and procedures.Ability to plan and manage working time to achieve agreed goalsDevelops understanding of problems and challenges in a task and applies accumulated knowledge and experience to understand and/or resolve them.Demonstrates an awareness of principles and trends within the area of GenAI in education and awareness of how this affects education in the University.Desirable Skills:
Experience of using Wordpress or other multi-media development software to support the delivery of online educational content. Teaching qualification (PGCAP or equivalent).Membership of Higher Education Academy.
