Technology Resilience Capability Designer

Job at Fidelity International in Tadworth, Surrey

Fidelity International: Senior Technology Resilience Capability Designer - Shape the Future of Resilience

For over 50 years, Fidelity International has been dedicated to empowering clients to build brighter financial futures. This enduring success is rooted in a culture of collaboration and mutual support. Now, you have an exceptional opportunity to contribute to this legacy by joining our dynamic Technology Resilience Team and becoming part of something truly impactful.

The Opportunity: A Strategic Role in Enterprise Technology Resilience

This permanent role of Senior Technology Resilience Capability Designer is a cornerstone of Fidelity's Enterprise Technology Recovery & Resilience department. You will be instrumental in shaping and embedding technology resilience across our diverse, global technology landscape. This encompasses on-premise, cloud (IaaS & SaaS), and cutting-edge cloud-native applications. As part of a highly skilled team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), your mission will be to ensure our technology services are resilient by design, capable of withstanding and recovering from disruption.

This position offers a unique blend of deep technical expertise and strategic resilience acumen. You'll apply a critical resilience and risk lens across the entire technology stack, from infrastructure to platforms and services. Your work will involve assessing, designing, and continuously improving resilience capabilities, leveraging data, evidence, and rigorous testing to identify vulnerabilities, measure our resilience posture, and drive tangible improvements.

Key Advantages for Your Career Path:

  • Strategic Influence: Play a pivotal role in defining and implementing resilience strategies that have a firm-wide impact. You'll be at the forefront of ensuring critical business services can continue uninterrupted, directly contributing to customer trust and business continuity.
  • Cutting-Edge Technology Exposure: Engage with a broad spectrum of technologies, including on-premise, IaaS, SaaS, and modern cloud-native development. This role provides ample opportunity to deepen your understanding of diverse technological environments.
  • Regulatory Expertise Development: Gain in-depth knowledge of current and emerging regulations in operational resilience (e.g., FCA, PRA, DORA), understanding their implications for technology and developing strategies for compliance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with a global network of business and technology partners, enterprise architects, and development teams. This collaborative environment fosters knowledge sharing and broadens your professional network.
  • Problem-Solving and Innovation: Tackle complex challenges related to severe but plausible scenarios such as ransomware attacks, core technology failures, and third-party outages. You'll design and architect innovative solutions to mitigate these risks.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Contribute significantly to the firm's data strategy for resilience, ensuring the right data, metrics, and reporting are in place to validate and demonstrate "resilient readiness."
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Act as a consultative SME, driving resilient thinking across the technology organization and influencing best practices in design and implementation.
  • Continuous Learning and Development: Fidelity International is committed to your growth. The role emphasizes "on the job" learning, encouraging candidates with strong potential and a willingness to adapt to be bold and apply.

Key Considerations for Aspiring Candidates:

  • Technical Breadth and Depth: A strong foundation in infrastructure, application deployment, cloud technologies (IaaS & SaaS), and monitoring/observability is essential. Experience with connectivity, networks, and zero-trust approaches will be highly valued.
  • Resilience Mindset: A deep understanding of technology resilience practices, including in-design resilience for cloud-native applications and CI/CD pipeline integration, is crucial.
  • Risk and Regulatory Acumen: Familiarity with operational resilience regulatory requirements and their impact on technology is a significant advantage.
  • Data and Analytical Skills: The ability to work with and manipulate data to drive decision-making, and an understanding of Power BI for metrics and dashboards, will be key to success.
  • Communication and Influence: The capacity to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to all organizational levels, challenge thinking constructively, and present with confidence is vital.
  • Adaptability and Collaboration: A demonstrated ability to be resilient, adaptable, and work collaboratively, leveraging individual talents to achieve team and company goals, is highly sought after.

Fidelity International offers a comprehensive benefits package, prioritizes employee wellbeing and development, and supports flexible working arrangements to foster a healthy work-life balance. If you are a forward-thinking technology professional passionate about building a resilient future, we encourage you to explore this exciting opportunity and contribute to our ongoing success.
