Technology Risk & Control Lead

Join us as a Controls Business Partner (CBP) for BUK Technology where you will,

Work directly with leadership and key stakeholders in both CCO, Technology, Barclays UK Business and CSO to drive an effective Controls agenda. Implement and maintain the Barclays Controls Framework for the Technology Horizontal. Review and challenge of the Technology Standards, and associated Controls and Key Indicators. Lead Governance related activities including the BUK Technology Controls Forum; and coordination of the Control Environment and Risk Profile Assessment (CERPA), Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), and other associated Risk Issue and Event Reporting etc. Drive Effective engagement with Risk, Audit, Regulators and External Auditors on all BUK Technology related matters.

To be successful as a Controls Business Partner Director, you should have:

Experience in Operational Risk, Control, and/or Governance equivalent type role.Good understanding of Barclays Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), Operational Risk Framework (ORF) and Barclays Control Framework (BCF).Good understanding of control business processes and tooling. Strong analytical skills and techniques.Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, and negotiation skills. Able to manage and influence senior stakeholders across the group.Able to lead/mentor a high performing and efficient team with the different technical and functional skills across locations.Experience of continuous process and control improvement for both efficiency and exposure reasons.

Purpose of the role

To assess the integrity and effectiveness of the banks internal control framework to support the mitigation of risk and protection of the banks operational, financial, and reputational risk.

Accountabilities

Collaboration with various stakeholders across the bank and business units to improve overall control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings.Identification and investigation of potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the banks control framework, prioritised by its severity to disrupt bank operations.Development of reports to communicate key findings from risk assessment including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders.Execution of reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework aligned to established and evolving policies, regulation, and best practice.Implementation of adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and set appropriate methodology of assessing controls against the Controls Framework.

Contribute to and influence policy and procedures for the function and plan, manage and consult on multiple complex and critical strategic projects, which may be business wide..They manage the direction of a large team or sub-function, leading other people managers and embedding a performance culture aligned to the values of the business. Or for an individual contributor, they lead organisation wide projects and act as deep technical expert and thought leader, identifying new ways of working and collaborating cross functionally. They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions..Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives.Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
