Trainee Transport Planner

This is a fast-paced role focused on ensuring customer deliveries are made on time and in full. You’ll optimise efficiency and cost through effective route planning and carrier selection while maximising load capacity. Success in this role means building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, taking ownership of unforeseen issues, and maintaining accurate administration.

What you’ll do:

Provide first-class customer service by proactively sharing relevant information and using effective communication. Convert customer orders into shipping orders and allocate to the most appropriate haulier (UK and Export). Plan efficient routes and maximise load availability. Collect, maintain, and analyse data for KPIs and daily/weekly/monthly reporting. Resolve problems effectively using root cause analysis to improve operations. Build strong, trusting relationships with internal departments. Process transport-related invoices promptly and query discrepancies. Communicate strategic requirements and customer-specific needs to hauliers. Continuously review haulier performance and provide feedback. Assist the Customer Service & Logistics Manager with ad hoc tasks and reporting, including covering in their absence.

What you’ll bring:

Previous experience in transport planning. Strong communicator who works well as part of a team. Strong focus on detail and accuracy. Ability to work to deadlines and manage priorities. Flexibility to deal with unexpected changes. SAP knowledge.
