Advantages for Potential Candidates:

  • Strategic Impact: You will play a crucial role as the "last line of defence" against settlement and payment risks, directly contributing to the financial stability and operational integrity of the organisation.
  • Global Exposure: Gain invaluable experience working with global markets, a diverse range of asset classes, and collaborating with stakeholders across continents.
  • Senior Stakeholder Interaction: This position offers a high level of engagement with senior leaders across Treasury, Trading, FX, Finance, and IT, providing excellent opportunities for visibility and networking.

  • Meaningful Contribution: Contribute to a vital function with a direct impact on the business, working with both internal teams and external partners worldwide.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path:

To thrive in this role, candidates should possess a strong foundation in operations, ideally within diverse asset classes or a central treasury/cash management environment. The ability to analyse and solve problems with meticulous attention to detail, especially under tight deadlines, is paramount. Excellent communication skills are essential for effective stakeholder management and influencing decisions.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in financial operations, preferably across different asset classes or in a central treasury/cash management function.
  • Robust problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail and the capacity to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Superior verbal and written communication abilities.
  • A proactive approach to strengthening controls and embedding best practices in funding and settlement processes.
  • Proven ability in stakeholder management and expectation setting.
  • Experience with authorising/releasing payments and maker-checker responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Producing accurate and timely funding forecasts for trading desks.
  • Executing daily funding of nostro accounts using various payment types.
  • Monitoring, investigating, and resolving end-of-day balance discrepancies and funding breaks to minimise costs and risks.
  • Managing global funding requirements across different legal entities.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with internal teams (Treasury, Trading, Operations, Finance, Technology) and external partners (custodians, correspondent banks, agents).
  • Ensuring timely escalation of issues and conducting real-time investigations into root causes and impacts.

Highly Valued Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of cash and liquidity management, treasury operations, or funding within a global bank or financial institution.
  • Familiarity with intraday liquidity management techniques and strategies to minimise balances and costs.
  • Previous experience in a payments or settlement function.

Success in this role will also be measured against critical skills such as risk and controls, change and transformation capabilities, business acumen, strategic thinking, and job-specific technical expertise. The "Assistant Vice President Expectations" section highlights opportunities for leadership, influencing decision-making, policy development, and driving operational effectiveness. For individual contributors, it emphasizes leading collaborative assignments, guiding team members, and creative problem-solving.
