If so, an exciting opportunity awaits you to join a dynamic team dedicated to transforming the NIHR’s online presence.

This role is a pivotal part of a central communications team, working at the forefront of making the NIHR website an accessible, engaging, and high-ranking platform. You'll be instrumental in reaching and serving a diverse audience by enhancing the user experience and ensuring content meets both corporate objectives and user needs.

Key Advantages for Candidates:

  • Impactful Work: Contribute directly to a significant digital transformation project, enhancing the visibility and impact of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).
  • Collaborative Environment: Work within a supportive central communications team alongside digital content managers and other communication professionals. You'll also collaborate with national coordinating centres, senior officers of the Department of Health and Social Care, and colleagues within the Digital, Data and Technology function.
  • Skill Development: This is a hands-on role that will allow you to leverage and further develop specialist skills in content optimization, design, measurement, evaluation, and user experience (UX).
  • Strategic Alignment: Your work will directly support strategic business priorities, offering a clear understanding of how your contributions drive organizational goals.
  • Career Progression: The opportunity to work on a large-scale website transformation within a well-established organization offers significant potential for career growth and learning.
  • Generous Benefits Package: The NIHR offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
    • Extensive Annual Leave: 26 days of holiday plus approximately 16 Bank Holidays/university closure days, totaling around 42 days per year.
    • Lucrative Pension Scheme: A generous pension scheme with a substantial university contribution (14.5% of salary) and life assurance.
    • Health and Wellbeing: Discounted access to state-of-the-art campus gym facilities.
    • Personal Development: Access to professional development courses and a dedicated allowance for staff development.
    • Work-Life Balance: Opportunities for flexible working arrangements are available, and hybrid working is the norm with a minimum of 40% office time expected.
    • Additional Perks: Access to on-site childcare, shopping discounts, and travel schemes.
  • Location Options: The role is based in either Leeds or London, offering flexibility in your preferred work location.

Key Considerations for Candidates:

  • Hands-On & Collaborative Nature: This role requires an energetic and tenacious individual who excels in a hands-on capacity and can foster strong working relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong stakeholder management skills are essential due to the collaborative nature of the work, involving interactions with various individuals and groups both internally and externally.
  • Digital Expertise: A solid understanding of web optimization, content creation, and digital project management is a prerequisite for success.
  • Hybrid Working Model: Candidates should be comfortable with a hybrid working model, understanding the expectation of spending at least 40% of their time in the office.
  • Visa Sponsorship: For international candidates, please note that this post may be suitable for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route. First-time applicants may need to meet specific salary requirements. It is recommended to review the GOV.UK Skilled Worker visa information for detailed eligibility criteria.
  • Anonymised Application Process: The application process prioritizes inclusion and equity, with names removed during the shortlisting stage. Candidates are advised to omit any personally identifiable information from uploaded documents, file names, and free-text fields where not explicitly requested.

This is a fantastic chance to make a tangible difference by leveraging your digital content expertise to showcase the value and impact of the NIHR. If you're seeking a role that offers both challenge and reward within an enthusiastic and supportive team, we encourage you to explore this opportunity further.
