Job at G4S in Wrexham, Wrexham Principal Area

We're excited to present an opportunity for a dedicated Wellbeing Practitioner to join a vital service within G4S's criminal justice provision in North Wales, covering both Bangor and Wrexham.

This is a permanent, part-time role working 22.5 hours per week, with a salary range of £26,239.50 - £28,381.50 pro rata per annum. G4S is a significant provider of criminal justice services, committed to high-quality provision and collaborative partnerships. They actively invest in research and evidence-based initiatives aimed at reducing re-offending and fostering positive change.

What the Opportunity Offers:

  • Meaningful Impact: You'll play a crucial role in enhancing the wellbeing of individuals residing in Approved Premises (APs). Your work will directly contribute to their stability, potentially reducing the need for a return to the custodial estate.
  • Specialised Focus: This role centres on providing out-of-hours, in-person support for a range of wellbeing challenges, including anxiety, depression, low mood, sleep disturbances, and self-harm.
  • Flexible Working: The service delivery is structured around evenings (5-10 pm) and one weekend day, with flexible management responsibilities to accommodate out-of-hours duties within your contracted hours. This offers a unique work-life balance.
  • Holistic Approach: You will be operating within a trauma-informed framework, emphasizing understanding individual experiences and promoting recovery.
  • Professional Development: G4S demonstrates a commitment to supporting its practitioners through supervision, regular training opportunities, and access to up-to-date developments in the field.
  • Collaborative Environment: You'll work closely with Approved Premises staff and external agencies, fostering a multi-disciplinary approach to achieve the best outcomes for individuals.
  • Career Growth: This role provides a solid foundation in a specialized area of support services, with opportunities to develop skills in direct intervention, assessment, and team management.

Key Considerations for Aspiring Candidates:

  • Out-of-Hours Commitment: The nature of this role involves working evenings and weekends, which requires adaptability and a commitment to providing support during these times.
  • Building Rapport: A key requirement is the ability to quickly establish positive and trusting relationships with individuals who may be experiencing significant challenges.
  • Trauma-Informed Practice: A strong understanding of and commitment to trauma-informed principles is essential for effective engagement and support.
  • Partnership Working: Success in this role hinges on effective collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Record Keeping: Meticulous record-keeping and timely updates are critical for service continuity and performance monitoring.
  • Driving Requirement: A full driving licence and access to your own transport are essential for covering the specified locations.
  • Welsh Language: While desirable, G4S actively encourages applications from Welsh-speaking candidates, indicating a commitment to inclusivity and culturally sensitive service delivery.
  • Security Clearance: Be prepared for a comprehensive vetting process, including a 5-year checkable history and eligibility to work in the UK for a minimum of three years.

This Wellbeing Practitioner position offers a rewarding career path for individuals passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of those navigating the criminal justice system. Your dedication to wellbeing, coupled with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, will be highly valued in this impactful role.
