Salary £20.70 per hour Working Chargehand Location: Stagecoach Perth Salary: £20.70 per hour Due to an internal restructure within our Engineering Department, we are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Working Chargehand at our Perth Depot. This role plays a vital part in supporting the daily operations of our workshop while contributing to the ongoing success and reliability of our fleet. About the Role As a Workshop Supervisor/Chargehand, you will play a key role in supporting the Workshop Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team. Your focus will be on ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the depot, maintaining fleet reliability, and delivering outstanding service across all engineering functions. Hours of Work: Primarily Monday to Friday, day shifts. Flexibility is essential, as occasional afternoon and weekend shifts will be required based on operational needs. Key Responsibilities: Supervise daily workshop operations and provide guidance to engineering staff. Perform diagnostics and repairs on vehicles as necessary. Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental legislation and company policies. Allocate both planned and unplanned tasks efficiently among engineering staff. Manage overtime in accordance with authorised limits set by the Workshop Manager. Keep the engineering status board and garage log up to date with all vehicle changes. Coordinate with the Operations team to manage breakdowns and vehicle changeovers to minimise service disruption. Oversee vehicle cleaning, fuelling, oil checks, and parking logistics. Accurately process vehicle defect cards in line with company procedures. What We’re Looking For: A minimum of NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent e.g., City & Guilds Level 1 & 2) in Vehicle Repair. Sound knowledge of workshop operations and safe use of workshop equipment. Possession of a full PCV licence, or willingness to obtain one. All necessary tools, equipment, and uniform (including overalls) will be provided.
