Since 2007, Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council have worked in partnership.
This partnership is the first nationwide, and has become a blueprint for the approach commonly used in councils of our size.
A combination of organisational ambition, political support and talented staff have enabled the Councils to create new ways of working. We consider ourselves “civic social entrepreneurs” and are determined to solve the most important things to our residents in a collaborative way: access to jobs, good education and healthcare, safe communities, decent housing, beautiful open spaces, good natural environment and an opportunity to participate in the communities in which they live.
The Councils are multiple award winners including several awards for digital transformation and housing services. We were the only District Council shortlisted for Council of the Year in 2020 in both the MJ and LGC Awards.
We are now challenging ourselves to 'go further' in developing the five key platforms that will lay the foundation for successful places and communities:
Prosperous Places
Thriving People and Communities
Tackling Climate Change and Supporting our Natural Environment
Good Services & New Solutions
Leadership of Place
