Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) offers undergraduate, postgraduate and work-based foundation degree programs with a focus on enriching the lives of its students, employees, and the communities it serves.
A Church of England foundation with more than 2,000 students, BGU awards degrees up to taught Masters Level and works in partnership with the University of Leicester to offer research degree opportunities, including an EdD programme.
BGU celebrated 150 years since its foundation in 2012 having come into being as a Church teacher training college for women. The student body has been mixed in gender since the late 1960s.
Until the mid-1990s, the university had been specialized in teacher training. However, the university achieved diversification more than ten years ago and now offers a diverse and growing number of education-related, cultural and creative arts and humanities degree programs.
