Embark on a Transformative Career Journey with SSE's Business Management Graduate Apprenticeship!

Are you a driven individual with a passion for business and a desire to contribute to a sustainable future? SSE, a leading energy company committed to a net-zero world, presents an exceptional opportunity with its four-year Business Management Graduate Apprenticeship programme. This unique pathway, based in Perth and commencing in August 2026, offers a compelling blend of academic learning and invaluable hands-on experience, setting you on a solid trajectory for a successful career in project services.

What's on Offer: A Pathway to Expertise and Growth

  • Dual Development: This programme seamlessly integrates part-time university study, culminating in a BSc (Hons) in Business Management, with practical work-based experience within SSE's Project Services team.
  • Diverse Project Exposure: You'll be immersed in the vital work of reinforcing our transmission network, constructing new infrastructure, and facilitating the transition to renewable energy sources. This means contributing to projects that are crucial for a cleaner, more secure future.
  • Specialisation Opportunities: The programme includes rotations across key areas of Project Services, allowing you to discover your strengths and preferences. You will have the chance to specialise in one of the following critical roles:
    • Document Controller: Master the management and control of project documentation, ensuring adherence to established processes and procedures.
    • Planner: Develop and maintain project programmes, coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure milestones and deadlines are met.
    • Project Coordinator: Provide essential administrative and data analysis support, maintaining quality governance and managing competing priorities.
  • Comprehensive Support System: Benefit from dedicated support from the Learning and Development team and a personal business mentor, guiding you to reach your full potential.
  • Future Earning Potential: The starting salary is a competitive circa £24,580, with a projected salary of circa £29,000 per annum upon successful completion of the programme, depending on your chosen role.
  • Attractive Benefits Package: Beyond salary, SSE offers a comprehensive range of benefits designed to support your family, finances, and overall wellbeing, including discounts on private healthcare and gym memberships, wellbeing services, interest-free loans for tech and transport, and generous family entitlements.

Key Considerations for Aspiring Candidates:

  • Commitment and Drive: This is a rigorous four-year programme. Candidates must demonstrate strong organisational skills, self-drive, and the ability to manage time effectively. Flexibility and a collaborative spirit, whether working independently or as part of a team, are highly valued.
  • Academic Foundation: To be eligible, you will need to have achieved or be on track to achieve specific qualifications prior to the August 2026 start date. This includes options such as SQA Highers, Foundation Apprenticeships, Modern Apprenticeships, or an HNC in a relevant subject. Please review the detailed entry requirements carefully. Note that individuals who have already completed a Bachelor's degree are not eligible for this programme.
  • Career Focus: This apprenticeship is ideal for individuals who are eager to build a foundational career within project services and contribute to impactful energy infrastructure projects. It offers a structured pathway to gaining recognised qualifications and practical experience.
  • Alignment with SSE's Mission: Candidates who are passionate about contributing to the energy transition and a net-zero future will find this opportunity particularly rewarding.
