Clinical Tutor

Job at University of East London in Greater London, E16

The University of East London (UEL) presents a compelling opportunity for experienced Clinical Psychologists seeking to advance their careers in academic and training environments. With a rich history dating back to 1898, UEL is dedicated to shaping the future of careers-first education, aligning with the principles of Industry 5.0. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about fostering talent, driving innovation, and contributing to a diverse, inclusive, and sustainable future.

Key Advantages for Potential Candidates:

  • Impactful Role in a Leading Programme: You will be instrumental in shaping the next generation of Clinical Psychologists through UEL's well-established and substantial Doctoral Programme. This program is recognized for its unique approach to community and social inequalities.
  • Collaborative and Supportive Environment: Join a skilled, friendly, and supportive small team. You will work closely with the Programme Director and Deputy Programme Director, fostering a collaborative atmosphere focused on developing and assessing clinical skills.
  • Extensive Network and Partnerships: Engage with a broad network of placement providers, supervisors, and service leads across the North Thames region. You will also collaborate with prestigious TriCourse partners, including UCL and Royal Holloway.
  • Commitment to Professional Development: UEL is embarking on a new strategy, Vision 2028, aimed at transforming its curriculum and partnerships. This initiative offers opportunities to contribute to cutting-edge educational practices and the development of future-ready skills.
  • Exceptional Benefits and Wellbeing: UEL offers a comprehensive benefits package that goes beyond a competitive salary. This includes a substantial pension contribution (31.08% to 35.38% employer contribution), generous holiday allowance (35 days plus 3 additional days and bank holidays), hybrid working options, subsidized gym membership, life assurance, cashback healthcare, and a wide array of discounts.
  • Champion of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity (EDI): UEL is a proud advocate for EDI, demonstrated by its zero gender pay gap, membership in Stonewall, and Athena Swan awards. You will be part of an organization that actively promotes inclusivity and equal opportunities.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path:

  • Experience Requirements: This role requires substantial experience in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology, with HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist being essential. Previous supervisory experience within the NHS is a prerequisite, and contributions to Clinical Psychology training programmes are highly desirable.
  • Line Management and Coordination: The position involves direct line management of trainees, coordination of placement provision, and delivery of clinical skills seminars and research supervision. Candidates should be comfortable with these responsibilities.
  • Strategic Vision Alignment: UEL is actively pursuing its Vision 2028 strategy to become a leading careers-focused, enterprising university. Candidates who are forward-thinking and eager to contribute to this transformative agenda will find this role particularly rewarding.
  • Active Contribution to Programme Development: Beyond day-to-day duties, there is an expectation to contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Programme, particularly in areas of clinical skills development and assessment.

This Clinical Tutor position at the University of East London offers a significant opportunity to leverage your expertise, contribute to a vital training program, and be part of an institution committed to transformative education and positive societal impact. If you are a seasoned Clinical Psychologist looking for a role that combines academic rigor with practical application and a strong sense of community, UEL invites you to explore this exciting career path.
