About the University of Sunderland
The University of Sunderland offers life-changing opportunities for 27,500 students across its campuses in Sunderland, London, Hong Kong, and through global partnerships with learning institutions in 19 countries. We're proud to be a top 30 UK university (Guardian University Guide 2024), with top-quality facilities, inclusive culture, and our vibrant, ever-changing city.
The University of Sunderland is in an exciting phase of its development with a new vision and redefined strategic ambitions designed to take advantage of the ever-changing higher education landscape at home and overseas.
The recently formed Registry Academic Data Governance Unit exists to ensure the effective ownership, quality, and strategic utilisation of academic data across the service and university. Our remit spans the oversight, coordination, and enhancement of data processes and systems for the service, underpinning institutional decision-making and supporting the university’s academic mission. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute during the unit's initial phase of operation as we implement our new strategy and vision.
About the Role:
Are you ready to help us enhance the student experience by improving the quality, consistency and reliability of our academic data and the processes that support it?
As our Data and Process Development Coordinator, you will lead a small team responsible for the day-to-day management of data quality initiatives and process improvements within Academic Registry and Governance, serving as a central resource for colleagues and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include planning and testing changes, promptly identifying and addressing data issues, and promoting a unified approach to processes while advancing a culture of data-driven excellence.
Collaboration with peers, faculties, and services will be essential to ensure effective planning and integration of initiatives.
You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in training initiatives, collaborate on process improvements, and play an active part in shaping a culture that values innovation, inclusivity, and continuous development.
This is a 3-year fixed term role.
What You Can Bring:
The ideal applicant will have prior experience in administrative or data management environments.
You should be an organised and cooperative problem-solver, able to adjust your leadership approach to motivate a team and achieve excellent results. Your strong organisational abilities and sharp attention to detail will help you confidently interpret complex data and clearly present recommendations.
Proficiency with IT systems and a practical, results-driven attitude are important.
Outstanding communication and people skills are crucial, as is the ability to work closely with others and support them during transitions. Success in this role comes from actively collaborating across departments, setting mid-term goals, making well-informed decisions, and adapting well when working within various teams.
