Senior Data and Process Development Administrator x2

Job at University of Sunderland in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, SR1

About the University of Sunderland

The University of Sunderland offers life-changing opportunities for 27,500 students across its campuses in Sunderland, London, Hong Kong, and through global partnerships with learning institutions in 19 countries. We're proud to be a top 30 UK university (Guardian University Guide 2024), with top-quality facilities, inclusive culture, and our vibrant, ever-changing city.

The University of Sunderland is in an exciting phase of its development with a new vision and redefined strategic ambitions designed to take advantage of the ever-changing higher education landscape at home and overseas.

The recently formed Registry Academic Data Governance Unit exists to ensure the effective ownership, quality, and strategic utilisation of academic data across the service and university. Our remit spans the oversight, coordination, and enhancement of data processes and systems for the service, underpinning institutional decision-making and supporting the university’s academic mission.

We have two vacancies for 3-year fixed term roles that offer an excellent opportunity to contribute during the unit's initial phase of operation as we implement our new strategy and vision.

About the Role:

As a Senior Data and Process Development Administrator, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the effective administration and development of academic data and related processes. Your work will support the University’s commitment to data-driven excellence, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of information that tracks the student journey, from modules and courses to delivery patterns and schedules.

You’ll be responsible for high-quality data management, error resolution, and process improvement activities, working proactively to deliver a customer-focused, agile, and professional service. Your contributions will help maintain the University’s reputation for excellence, supporting colleagues and stakeholders across the institution.

You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in training initiatives, collaborate on process improvements, and play an active part in a culture that values innovation, inclusivity, and continuous development.

What You Can Bring:

We’re looking for someone with a strong background in administration or data management, who thrives on managing conflicting deadlines and interpreting complex information. You’ll bring a keen eye for detail, effective time management skills, and the ability to adapt your communication style to different audiences.

Your collaborative spirit will help you work effectively within teams and across services, while your evaluative approach and confidence to suggest new ideas will support ongoing improvements.

Experience with IT systems is needed and knowledge of higher education data requirements (such as HESA Student Data Futures) is desirable, but not essential.

Most importantly, you’ll be committed to your own development, eager to share knowledge, and ready to contribute positively to our inclusive, inspiring, and innovative culture.

What we can offer you

Our University is not just a place of academic excellence, but also a community that embraces inclusivity and support. We value our staff and offer a rewarding package that goes beyond just salary. At the University of Sunderland, we prioritise not only your professional growth but also your happiness and well-being.

Enjoy a generous annual leave entitlement of 31 days, along with an additional 5 closure days over the Christmas break and 8 Bank Holidays. Enrolment into our pension scheme, ensuring your financial security for the future. Access to our “My Lifestyle Benefits Platform”, where you can enjoy online discounts at hundreds of retailers every day. Equality, diversity & inclusion

We strongly believe that an inclusive university, where a diverse range of individuals feel valued and have equal opportunity to get into work and reach their potential, is good for our staff, students, university, and society.

Our work on equality, diversity and inclusivity has never been more important. We believe inclusivity is an essential value at the heart of what we do, and we want all our staff to be part of that journey with us.

Our recent staff survey conducted in 2023 showed that 97% of our staff believed that we were committed to achieving an inclusive university.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 1st February 2026 (23.59 GMT). Interviews are likely to take place w/c Monday 9th February 2026.
