SSE Energy Marketssecure the energy needed to power customers' lives, while creating value for SSE. Our Energy Markets trading teams buy the fuel needed to deliver cleaner energy and sell power generated in our wind farm, hydro and thermal assets back to the markets.

Base Location:Reading – this is a hybrid role working part of your week from the office at the advertised location.

Salary:£40,600 - £61,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

Within Energy Markets (EM) the Energy Demand Forecasting team work closely with the trading team, finance, retail and business energy - analysing the impact of weather, consumption trends, energy efficiency and strategic assumptions to enable EM to minimise balancing costs and optimise energy procurement costs.

You will

- Produce accurate long and short-term forecasts of demand for gas and electricity across GB & Ireland.

- Provide support across all the forecast areas, streamlining the forecast process, improving accuracy as well as providing value-adding analysis to our internal customers with the opportunity to specialise in a particular area.

- Look for ways to continuously improve, creating and delivering change to the existing forecasting systems, processes and models.

You have

- Strong mathematical skills with a relevant degree in a numerical subject desirable.

- Great technical skills and experience in the analysis of data and problem solving, experience of Excel is required with Python and SQL desirable.

- Good communication skills.

- Commercial experience and knowledge of forecasting techniques.
