Overview Content, Technology & Innovation (CT&I) is part of Comcast and Sky Global Product Hub, responsible for delivering Sky content and services to customers everywhere via reliable, scalable, and innovative platforms. This role will own the strategic vision and execution of CBP engineering function—ensuring that Sky builds and operates software and broadcast systems with technical excellence, reliability, and agility. Reporting to the Group Director of Content, Broadcast and Platforms, this is a pivotal leadership role that unifies broadcast engineering under a single structure, eliminating duplication, streamlining decision-making, and driving consistency in engineering practices across territories. You will lead a team of 150+ engineers across the UK, DACH, and Italy, within a wider engineering organisation of 550+, and be accountable for all engineering delivery across Sky Sports, Sky News, Sky Creative, Sky Studios, Global Product, and our broader content ecosystem—including live production, media management, and video-on-demand (VOD). By embedding modern engineering practices, DevOps adoption, and continuous improvement into the organisation, you will transform engineering into a strategic enabler of innovation and operational excellence—positioning Sky to lead in a rapidly evolving media and technology landscape. The Role You will own the engineering and integration of technology solutions across CBP, ensuring that products are built, tested, and delivered to the highest standards of quality and performance. You will define how we build things right—driving the adoption of modern engineering practices, automation, and robust delivery pipelines that are scalable, secure, and future-ready. This role will have a transformative impact on how engineering operates across the Group. By consolidating fragmented ownership and aligning software and broadcast disciplines, you will foster consistency, improve efficiency, and create a culture of accountability and technical excellence. You will act as a central point of alignment between engineering and broader business objectives, ensuring that technology decisions support long-term growth and innovation while meeting immediate delivery needs. You will work closely with Architecture, Strategy & Delivery, and S/W & Platform teams to ensure seamless integration of engineering solutions and alignment with strategic priorities. At the same time, you will create space for experimentation and the adoption of emerging technologies—embedding innovation into the engineering culture without compromising delivery excellence. This is a mission-critical role that will shape the future of Sky content delivery capabilities and make a lasting impact at Group scale. Key Responsibilities Leadership: Inspire and lead engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Manage resource allocation, team development, and the recruitment of top engineering talent. Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to develop technical and leadership capabilities within the team. Build a diverse and inclusive team culture that supports career growth and innovation. Lead succession planning and talent pipeline development. Mentor engineers at all levels, supporting professional growth and skill development. Engineering practices and strategy: Define and implement CBP engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and objectives. Establish and refine engineering practices for development, testing, integration, and deployment. Oversee all aspects of the software lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, and support. Technology Innovation and Integration: Oversee all aspects of the software development lifecycle. Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to enhance engineering efficiency and product quality. Support strategic build vs. buy technology evaluations in collaboration with architecture teams. Quality Assurance and Performance: Implement metrics and KPIs to drive continuous improvement and evaluate engineering processes. Collaboration and Partnership: Work collaboratively with Product, Architecture, and S/W & Platform teams to ensure cohesive product delivery. Engage with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical strategies and solutions. Promote a culture of partnership and shared objectives across the engineering function to enhance organizational effectiveness. Governance Attend regular program governance meetings to support project execution Standardise all reporting and dashboards Create a culture of industry leading best practice Ensure compliance with Sky corporate policy What you'll bring: Engineering degree and /or extensive leadership experience from a media and broadcast engineering environment including: Large scale live sports and news production environments Large scale non-linear content supply chain Origination and distribution systems Solid experience working in matrixed or global organisations. Excellent communication, negotiation, strategic planning and stakeholder management skills. Proven ability to lead transformational change and build high-performing teams. Strong commercial awareness and business case development. Proven leadership and team management skills in a technical engineering environment. Deep understanding of DevOps practices and a strong advocate for agile methodologies. Ability to foster an innovative, dynamic, and collaborative work environment. Deep expertise in media technology and content supply chain systems. Understanding of financial investments, procurement, and contracts.
