Key Considerations for Candidates:

  • Security Clearance: A fundamental requirement for this role is the ability to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance. This necessitates being a sole UK national and may be influenced by your nationality, place of birth, and residency history.
  • Defence Industry Experience: Proven experience managing submarine combat systems upgrades or similar defence engineering projects is essential. Experience in regulated industries with diverse stakeholder groups is also highly valued.
  • Project Management Prowess: Strong full lifecycle project management skills, from bid to close-out, are critical. Proficiency with project planning tools such as MS Project or Primavera is expected.
  • Technical Foundation: A degree in a relevant STEM discipline or an HND/Foundation Degree with substantial technical experience is required. Chartered Engineer status or demonstrable progress towards it is a significant advantage.
  • Travel Commitment: Be prepared for regular travel to naval bases and potential overnight stays, particularly during critical project phases.
