Event Manager40 Hours per weekUp to £32,000Signet Library, Edinburgh, EH1 1RFAre you passionate about delivering exceptional events in a historic and inspiring setting?The Signet Library in Edinburgh, renowned for its stunning architecture and rich heritage, seeks a dynamic and experienced Events Manager to oversee our diverse functions.This is a unique opportunity to work within one of Edinburghs most iconic venues, combining your organisational skills with a love for history and culture.Nestled in the heart of Edinburghs historic Old Town, the Signet Library is a magnificent 19th century building.Designed by architect William Burn, it boasts elegant neoclassical architecture, a stunning central reading room, and beautifully preserved interiors that reflect centuries of Scottish legal tradition.Today, it continues to be a prestigious venue for events, private functions, and corporate gatherings, offering a truly memorable setting for any occasion.Main ResponsibilitiesWhat youll do:Planning and Service DeliveryEnsure all planning, operational, and kitchen service functions for the venue are effectively in place and meet the required standards.Quality Control, Health and Safety, and HygieneManage all quality assurance measures, health and safety protocols, and hygiene systems to align with Heritage Portfolio standards and specific venue requirements.Client and Team CommunicationUnderstand and clearly communicate the venues service offers to clients, customers, and the Heritage Portfolio team to ensure alignment and satisfaction.Innovation and Service EnhancementLead efforts to innovate and develop service styles that generate positive PR and enhance client feedback.Team Collaboration and Business GrowthActively participate in the wider events team, contributing to discussions and decisions that support the growth and improvement of the Heritage Portfolio business.Event Service Articulation and Customer ExperienceClearly define and communicate the service elements for each event, including food, equipment, flow, and overall customer experience, to improve business outcomes.Financial Performance SupportAssist the venue in managing financial aspects such as forecasting, event costing, post event reviews, cost control, stock management, and monthly reconciliation.Site Readiness and PreparationSupport venue teams in ensuring areas are prepared for site visits and event setups as required.Security and Safety ComplianceEnsure all security measures related to the building, stock, personnel, and client expectations are maintained before, during, and after events.Site Inspections and Proposal DevelopmentAssist with regular site inspections and the generation of proposals to support event planning and venue development.Teamwork and Workplace HarmonyPromote a collaborative and harmonious working environment within the Heritage Portfolio team.Business Development SupportSupport the General and Assistant Manager in identifying and pursuing financially sustainable opportunities to develop the business.The Ideal CandidateWhat you bring:A passionate interest in the catering industry, knowledge of current trends, and interest in the hospitality worldExperience in a high volume catering environmentAbility to craft communication plans for key stakeholdersEvidence of ability to create and adhere to project delivery plansAbility to competently use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and EmailAbility to motivate a team of mixed abilities and personalitiesProven record of managing a large front of house team of managers, event designers, and floor staffDesirable:Experience and understanding of event costing and design of eventsAbility to produce accurate work under tight deadlines and pressureExperience in assisting with creating a project planCapability to identify and highlight revenue maximising opportunitiesFirst aid and personal alcohol license qualificationsExperience in assisting with creating a marketing planJoin Heritage Portfolio and Sodexo Live!for a fulfilling career where your individuality is celebrated, your impact is valued, and your development is supported.
