This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Facilities Manager to play a pivotal role in the smooth operation of Beath High School and, when required, Queen Anne High School. As part of the Fife Schools PPP initiative, this position offers a chance to contribute to the vital educational infrastructure within the community.

Key Advantages for Candidates:

  • Impactful Role: You will be a crucial operational link, directly influencing the safe, efficient, and compliant functioning of school facilities. This is a chance to make a tangible difference in the daily experience of students and staff.
  • Collaborative Environment: Working alongside another Facilities Manager and a supportive admin team, you’ll be part of a team dedicated to delivering high-quality services.
  • Diverse Responsibilities: The role encompasses both hard and soft facilities management, offering a broad and engaging spectrum of duties. This includes technical oversight of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as contributing to soft services management.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: You will have the opportunity to build and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Head Teachers, school representatives, local authority partners, and internal management.
  • Career Development: Sodexo is committed to fostering career growth. This role provides opportunities for professional development, including learning and development across the business.
  • Competitive Package: The position offers a competitive salary (£40,000 – £45,000 per annum) along with excellent benefits, including free on-site parking, access to a virtual GP, and a comprehensive employee assistance program.
  • Work-Life Balance: While the standard hours are 08:30 – 17:00, there is flexibility available, and a 40-hour working week contributes to a structured schedule.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path:

  • Technical Acumen: A strong technical background or qualification in building services is essential. This role demands a practical understanding of hard FM services.
  • Leadership and Management: Proven experience in managing FM teams and contractors is a must. You'll be leading onsite administration/helpdesk staff and assisting with janitorial and maintenance teams.
  • Financial and Commercial Savvy: The ability to manage budgets, control costs, and identify efficiencies is critical. This includes experience with invoicing and report writing.
  • System Proficiency: Familiarity with CAFM systems (specifically PlanetFM is mentioned) for record-keeping and work order management is required.
  • Compliance Focus: A thorough understanding of statutory compliance, health and safety legislation (IOSH or equivalent is desirable), and environmental standards is paramount.
  • Adaptability and Resilience: The role requires flexibility, including participation in an on-call rota for emergencies. You must also be eligible for PVG clearance, underscoring a commitment to safeguarding.
  • Driving and Transport: A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential, highlighting the need for mobility.
  • Experience in PFI/PPP or Education: While desirable, previous experience in these specific environments can provide a significant advantage in understanding the nuances of the role.

This role is ideal for a proactive Facilities Manager who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about maintaining high standards in educational settings.
