    • The "Switched On" scheme provides discounts across a wide range of retailers.
  • Career Development & Progression: This role offers a clear path for growth. • Impactful Work: You will be directly involved in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of a critical energy network, contributing to the well-being of communities.
  • Diverse Responsibilities: The role encompasses a broad spectrum of tasks, from safety management and fault resolution to customer liaison and contractor supervision, providing a rich and varied work experience.

Key Considerations for Aspiring Field Engineers:

  • Safety is Paramount: A strong commitment to and understanding of health and safety principles is non-negotiable. You will be responsible for implementing and ensuring adherence to rigorous safety standards and policies.
  • Standby Commitment: All new employees in Field Engineer roles within Network Operations have a contractual requirement to undertake standby duties for a minimum period of 20 years, or up to the age of 55, whichever comes first. This is a crucial aspect of the role's operational nature.
  • Technical Proficiency: Essential qualifications include a strong foundation in Electrical Engineering (ONC or equivalent), familiarity with Substation Asset Protection (SAP) systems, and IT literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ideally specific internal systems like MRS.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Experience with ENA G99/G100 witness testing and an understanding of industry standards are essential for delivering compliant and high-quality work.
  • Customer Focus: The ability to liaise effectively with customers, manage relationships, and meet their expectations is a key component of this role.
  • Problem-Solving & Initiative: You will be expected to work on your own initiative, manage and resolve contract issues, produce risk assessments, and be prepared to assist other sections as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Geographical Coverage: The role requires working within a specific geographical area in the South East Region, indicating the need for flexibility and potential travel.
  • Mandatory Checks: Successful candidates will be required to undertake a medical examination and DBS reference check.

By embracing the responsibilities and leveraging the developmental prospects, you can significantly advance your career while contributing to the essential infrastructure that powers our lives.
