What you will be doing The Vessels & Installations Design In-Service Group Lead role comprises the following aspects: Is responsible for product safety and plant availability on operational submarines for the products within the team scope (NSRP major vessels, heat exchangers, miscellaneous vessels, pipework, fittings, mounts and a number of special assemblies). Effective communicator and able to influence seniors & Submarines Enterprise partners including the Customer, Regulator and personnel at the Shipbuilder and Fleet Maintainer sites, to achieve safe and available product. Ability to effectively manage and deliver a high volume of emergent demands on the group, frequently balancing the prioritisation of critical-to-safety and critical-to-programme requirements with existing committed/planned load. Setting the strategy and implementation of developing of the Nuclear SQEP for the group currently comprising 15 FTEs, plus graduates and apprentices on placement. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strength in one or more of the following: Knowledge / experience in the navigation of RRSL product safety processes and the implementation of safety case(s) updates. Working knowledge of one or more products within the scope of Vessels and Installations. Strong cross-functional network, including but not limited to the RR site offices, IMRS, Services DBU, stress analysis teams and materials, chemistry & corrosion. Experience of supporting in-service submarines is highly desirable but not a requirement, as coaching and advice is available. Has experience in leading people or teams in challenging environments. Sentencing of product non-conformance. Proven ability of managing customer demands and fluctuating emergent workload against resource constraints and the ongoing activities essential for maintaining product safety.
