Head of Product Marketing Strategy and Activation: A Strategic Opportunity in Transaction Banking

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned marketing leader to shape the future of product marketing within Transaction Banking at a pivotal time. As the Head of Product Marketing Strategy and Activation, you will play a crucial role in defining and executing a robust marketing strategy that deeply embeds banking expertise across all touchpoints. This position offers a high-impact role, collaborating closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to drive engagement and growth within the Large Corporate Lending segment and a newly merged Corporate Banking and Barclaycard Payments division.

For ambitious marketing professionals looking to make a significant contribution, this role presents a unique chance to:

  • Lead Strategic Development: You will be instrumental in crafting the overarching Product Marketing Strategy, ensuring it is tightly aligned with the business objectives of Transaction Banking and the wider senior leadership team.
  • Drive Integration and Synergy: Play a key role in integrating marketing efforts within a newly merged entity, encompassing Corporate Banking and Barclaycard Payments. This is a chance to leverage synergies and create a unified brand presence.
  • Champion Banking Expertise: A core focus is to infuse banking expertise into all marketing outputs, through both direct sponsorship opportunities (e.g., Global Trade Review, Association of Corporate Treasurers) and close collaboration with Industry and Channel Marketing teams.
  • Manage and Develop a High-Performing Team: Lead a team of marketing managers responsible for the end-to-end execution of the marketing mix strategy, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Build Strong Stakeholder Relationships: This role demands exceptional stakeholder management skills, requiring you to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of internal and external partners.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path:

This position is ideal for candidates who possess a strong foundation in marketing strategy and a proven track record of delivering measurable results. When considering this opportunity, reflect on the following:

  • Commercial Acumen is Paramount: Success hinges on your ability to demonstrate significant commercial and financial awareness. You will be expected to measure, evaluate, and prove the return on investment (ROI) of marketing activities.
  • Operational Marketing Expertise: A deep understanding of customer and client segment marketing, its impact on customer experience, and operational knowledge of various marketing channels are essential.
  • Strategic Planning and Budgeting: The ability to meticulously plan, organize, and manage budgets is critical for allocating resources effectively and maximizing impact.
  • Senior-Level Communication: You must be an accomplished communicator, adept at presenting complex ideas and strategies to senior stakeholders across the organization.
  • Leadership Potential: If you are aspiring to leadership, this role offers significant experience in line management and people development. The emphasis on the Barclays LEAD behaviours (Listen and be authentic, Energise and inspire, Align across the enterprise, Develop others) provides a clear framework for growth.
  • Risk and Governance Awareness: A solid understanding of risk and controls, as well as audit/governance frameworks, will be beneficial and may be assessed.
  • Embrace Transformation: The role operates within a dynamic environment that values change and transformation, requiring adaptability and a forward-thinking mindset.

This is a 12-month secondment/fixed-term contract role based in London, offering a significant opportunity to gain valuable experience and contribute to strategic initiatives within a leading financial institution. If you are a results-oriented marketing leader with a passion for strategy and a drive for excellence, this role could be a pivotal step in your career advancement.
