If you are seeking an opportunity to make a tangible impact within a dynamic and growing sector, this role as an HSE Advisor presents an exceptional pathway. The company champions a culture that is deeply committed to diversity, employee development, internal mobility, and, paramountly, safety. This is a chance to contribute to a business that is critical to the UK economy while thriving in an environment that values individuality and mutual respect.

Advantages for Potential Candidates:

  • Make a Real Impact: Play a crucial role in a business that underpins the UK's trade infrastructure.
  • Innovative Environment: Join an exciting, forward-thinking, and expanding organisation.
  • Inclusive Culture: Work in an environment where you can be your authentic self and feel valued.

  • Dedicated Support: Experience strong engagement and guidance from experienced management and leadership.

Key Considerations for this HSE Advisor Role:

This HSE Advisor position offers a unique opportunity to move beyond traditional compliance. You will operate as a business partner, providing crucial insight and coaching to drive best practices across regional operations. This is a hands-on role where you will take full ownership of your designated terminals, working collaboratively with management to embed a strong safety culture proactively, rather than relying on escalation.

Key Responsibilities and Opportunities:

  • Provide expert HS&E advice, coaching, and support to regional operations.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the company's overarching HS&E strategy, standards, and systems.
  • Conduct vital audits, safety conversations, and inspections, ensuring thorough follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Facilitate HS&E Committees and drive engaging safety campaigns.
  • Assist in critical incident investigations and reporting processes.
  • Monitor and analyse HS&E performance data to inform strategic decisions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HS&E legislation and industry best practices.

What the Organisation is Looking For:

  • Essential Qualification: A NEBOSH Diploma (or an equivalent qualification) is a fundamental requirement.
  • Industry Experience: Proven experience within a port or heavy industry setting is highly valued.
  • Influencing Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for effectively engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Adaptability: The ability to be organised, flexible, and responsive to dynamic operational needs is key.
  • Legislative Knowledge: A solid understanding of HS&E legislation is paramount.
  • Technical Proficiency: Confidence in using IT systems and e-learning platforms.
  • Mobility: A full UK driving licence is required.

The Comprehensive Package:

In addition to a competitive salary, the role includes a contributory pension (starting at 3% with a 5% company match up to 18%), private healthcare, access to an Employee Assistance Program, and a wide array of discounts and cashback offers with various retailers. The organisation is deeply invested in its employees' growth, offering continuous learning opportunities through its strong training academy.

Additional Information to Note:

Joining this organisation means becoming part of a welcoming yet challenging environment that rewards its employees generously. A commitment to a drug-free workplace is in place, with random substance abuse screening and a zero-tolerance policy. A pre-employment medical will also be a requirement for this position.

As an equal opportunities employer, this organisation actively seeks to foster a diverse and inclusive working environment. Successful candidates will undergo pre-employment screening to Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), requiring your consent.
