Mess ManagerLocation: Aliwal Barracks, Tidworth, SP9 7BBHours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)About the RoleWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Hospitality Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our Mess facility at Aliwal Barracks. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring top-quality service, managing team performance, and fostering strong client relationships, all while driving growth and maintaining financial performance. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a background in soft FM services to step into a role that blends operational excellence with innovative hospitality management.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Excellence:Oversee daily Mess activities to ensure a high standard of service in line with our Schedule of Requirements and Key Performance Indicators.Plan, organise, and manage the delivery of catering services, including menu planning, costing, and service scheduling.Team Leadership & Development:Provide strong leadership, support, and clear direction to your team of direct reports.Manage recruitment, induction, performance reviews, and continuous professional development for your team, in line with Sodexo HR policies.Client & Relationship Management:Cultivate and maintain excellent relationships with clients, residents, and key stakeholders.Liaise with the PMC/RSM and mess committee to enhance client satisfaction and promote the Sodexo brand.Financial & Risk Management:Manage budgets, control waste, and achieve targeted sales and gross margins.Ensure compliance with internal and external audits, health & safety standards, and food safety regulations.Continuous Improvement:Drive initiatives for service excellence and operational efficiency.Lead the implementation of marketing and promotional activities to support business growth.Additional Duties:Act as the on-call duty manager and provide cover during holidays/weekends as required.Collaborate with other department managers to ensure seamless operational integration and continuous service improvement.Person SpecificationEssential:Proven experience in a management role within the soft FM services industry.Strong leadership, people management, and HR skills including recruitment, training, and performance management.Excellent numerical, interpersonal, and communication skills with a keen eye for detail.Solid knowledge of health & safety and food safety management.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to make data-driven decisions.Desirable:Previous experience in a military environment.Demonstrated track record in managing similar roles and client relationships.Qualifications in Health and Safety (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely) or related areas.Technical skills in contract catering, hospitality, retail, and cleaning services.Why Join Us?As our Hospitality Manager, you will be at the forefront of delivering exceptional service while driving operational and financial success.
