The University of Kent’s IT Services department is seeking a Networks and Voice Assistant Engineer to support the day-to-day operation of its data and voice network infrastructure across its campuses. This hands-on operational position within the Networks team will involve working as part of a Network Operations Centre (NOC)-style function.
You will contribute to the ongoing maintenance of network services, including routine firmware patching of equipment such as firewalls and you will carry out physical hardware replacement and respond to connectivity issues or physical outages.
As an IT Networks and Voice Assistant Engineer you can expect to be involved in:
Supporting the maintenance, monitoring, and daily operation of the University’s data and voice network infrastructure, ensuring availability and reliability of services Implementing standard configuration changes, including port/VLAN updates and interface modifications, to support user and service requirementsParticipating in planned out-of-hours maintenance activities as part of the Networks team rotaWhat will you bring to the role?
Educated to A level or equivalent experience with hands-on support in an enterprise network operations environmentExperience configuring and administering network equipment, such as Cisco, Aruba or Palo Alto devicesWorking knowledge of common network protocols and services, including VLANs, DNS, and DHCPWhat we can offer in return:
