The Consumer Technical Insights team is a thought leader in the development, application and roll out of both insight and value optimization tools to direct our core brands to deliver against rapidly evolving opportunities within fast moving consumer trends in the marketplace. JOB PURPOSE We are seeking a talented and motivated Data Scientist to join our Consumer Technical Insights (CTI) team within our ice cream business. We are looking for someone with a natural curiosity and desire to interrogate and connect data to help us translate what consumers want into technical action standards that our Research and Development (R&D) teams can deliver against. In this role, you will leverage advanced AI and machine learning techniques, along with data exploration, analysis, visualization tools, and statistical analysis, to translate data into meaningful recommendations that drive our business forward. You will also play a crucial role in identifying and integrating emerging technologies and methodologies to ensure our data science practices remain at the forefront of industry advancements. RESPONSIBILITIES Defining and developing innovative approaches for capturing both structured and unstructured data, which can be used for modelling and insight generation. Executing data pre-processing activities to ensure data is fit for analytics and predictive model development. Analysing data sets using a diverse set of statistical and modelling techniques and developing models and algorithms using Machine Learning and AI. Developing and implementing data analytics and visualisation tools and dashboards (together with functional experts, partners and stakeholders) to enable confidence in rapid data and AI driven R&D decisions. Supporting the CTI and wider R&D team with data cleaning, transformation and structuring to enable visualisation, analysis and upload to dashboards where applicable. Ensuring data is managed with the upmost ethical standards, including safeguarding consumer personal and sensitive data. Building strong and collaborative relationships with both internal and external partners. Presenting data in an appealing and engaging way tailored to the audience with fully detailed debrief to R&D teams and senior stakeholders as required. Staying current with data science techniques, industry trends and emerging technologies, particularly in AI and machine learning, and supporting the implementation of these where appropriate. Travel <10% of time ALL ABOUT YOU Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science or a related field. Relevant years of experience in Data Science, Statistics or Data Analysis, preferably in a consumer research or marketing analytics role. Highly competent with data capture and analytics tools and bringing together large volumes of data from multiples sources. Experience in developing machine learning models using Python or R. and using Power BI, or similar, to develop standard visualization dashboards. Knowledge and experience working with statistical/modelling software such as JMP, SAS, MATLAB or MINITAB are an added advantage. Ability to develop Design of Experiments (DOE). Strong collaboration and teamwork skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to summarise and present results in an impactful way, tailored to the audience. Interest or knowledge in consumer research methods. Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement.
