Kitchen Porter - 40 week (term time) and year-round 52 week contracts (CH

Job at University of Bath in Bath, Bath and North East Somerset, BA2

This role is eligible for the Campus Services New Starter Bonus* (£1,000) and Campus Services Refer a Friend bonus.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen with 3 kitchen porter positions available for you to join our dynamic professional kitchen brigades at the University of Bath. As a member of the General Porters team, you will work a variety of shifts, on a 5 out of 7 days contract, in a bustling kitchen environment. Comprehensive training will be provided for the right candidate, enabling you to become an integral part of the operation that delivers exceptional food and drink services to the community of the University of Bath.

Two of the positions are year round 52 week roles, but for all 3 roles during term time, the porter role is mainly Monday-Friday with occasional evening and weekend requirements. During the summer (June to Aug) there is an increased requirement for weekend, morning, and late evening shifts, which are done via a rota. The weekly shift pattern consists of straight shifts only, no split shifts.

Although all three porter positions are full time (36.5hr per week), two of the positions are on 52 week contracts (in the West Hospitality team) and one position is on a 40-week contract (in the East Hospitality team). The 40-week contract is to cover the university term time periods (see Academic year chart for more detail) and part of our busy summer commercial period. Please note on your application if you have a preference or if you are flexible and wish to be considered for both the 40-week and 52-week positions. The 40-week contract has 12 weeks fixed time off, which is outlined below. Personal holidays for the 40 week role will be included in this fixed time off period. Note that the advertised salary is pro rata for the 40 week position (as is the new starter bonus amount).

Weeks off for the 40-week role would be:

- 7 full weeks off over Christmas and New Year

- 2 weeks off over Easter

- The last 2 full weeks off in August
