Lead Data Engineer – Transform Data into Actionable Insights!

We are looking for an experienced Lead Data Engineer to join our dynamic IT team at East Midlands Railway (EMR). This role is pivotal in optimising and maintaining our Data Analytics Platform (EDAP), automating data processes, and enabling cutting-edge analytics that drive decision-making across the business.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Promote the value of data, analytics, and business intelligence across the business.Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR).Support the business in using data for decision-making, reporting, and predictive modeling.Drive continuous improvement in reporting, efficiency, and new technologies.Support a unified data management strategy for EMR.Use project management and agile methods to deliver improvements.Help develop and implement a long-term data strategy.Extract, transform, and load data while maintaining quality.Identify automation and optimization opportunities.Translate business needs into technology solutions and define data standards.Ensure the data warehouse is compliant, accessible, and reliable.Identify opportunities for data integration to improve operations.Contribute to sustainability initiatives and minimize environmental impact.What You’ll Need:
Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience in data engineering.Strong expertise in Azure Data Technologies (Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Flows, Azure SQL, MS Analysis Services).Experience in data modelling and data warehousing with a deep understanding of best practices.Skilled in BI reporting & analytics tools (Tableau, Power BI).Proven ability to automate, optimise, and drive efficiencies in data processes.Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR) and compliance standards.Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical audiences.Experience in Agile delivery models and project management principles.Why Join EMR?
