Now is a truly exciting time to join our dynamic and forward-looking institution; we represent a new breed of university, a fast-growing, gold-rated university where staff and students work collaboratively and create world-changing knowledge and research. The School of Creative Arts at the University of Lincoln is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Dance to teach on the BA (Hons) Dance programme.
Please note this post is fixed term to cover maternity leave until 30 June 2026, or until the early return of the post holder.
As a new member of staff at the University of Lincoln you will be situated within the School of Creative Arts, part of the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities.
The School currently offers a range of Undergraduate programmes alongside a suite of M-level programmes and MPhil/PhD opportunities. The School of Creative Arts resources include the Lincoln Arts Centre, which includes rehearsal studios and a 444-seat public theatre venue. The School has a growing reputation of international dimensions and a rich legacy of developing small-scale theatre and performance groups who tour their work to regional venues, community clients, and national festivals.
The University of Lincoln’s BA (Hons) Dance has an industry-designed curriculum which links the theoretical and academic study of dance with the practical and creative disciplines of technique, choreography, performance, and critical contexts and applied practices. As a Lecturer in Dance, your primary duties will be to teach and assess student work across a range of practical and theoretical modules on both programmes. The ideal candidates will have particular expertise in any combination of the following areas:
Dance technique at level 5 and 6, contact improvisation, critical approaches to dance research, digital performance and/or dance management, production and education.
Appointed on a Teaching, Scholarship and Professional Practice (TSPP) profile on a teaching only contract, you would be expected to be on site at least 4 days a week and contribute to ongoing scholarly activity and pedagogic development, as well as fulfil appropriate administrative and recruitment duties.
You should hold or be working towards a PhD, or demonstrate an equivalent research or professional practice profile.
