The role

As a Marine Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of our Submarine Operations Centre, providing technical expertise that keeps the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet mission-ready. This is a varied and dynamic role where you’ll combine engineering knowledge with cutting-edge digital tools to improve maintenance management and design projects that ensure operational success. Every day brings new challenges - mechanical, electrical or weapons engineering—making this an exciting opportunity to grow your skills and make a real impact.

Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day provision of engineering support to Royal Navy submarine ships.

Provide engineering support to Royal Navy submarine ships staff. Investigate and resolve complex technical issues within defined timescales. Recommend solutions for system operations, defect history and repair options. Interpret technical documentation and advise on material specifications. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure maintenance projects meet operational needs.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Marine Engineer

Knowledge of submarine in-service support arrangements. Experience resolving complex electrical and mechanical investigations. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to champion high performance and inspire others. Proactive and able to work autonomously to meet deadlines.

Qualifications for the Marine Engineer

NVQ Level 3 or above in electrical or mechanical engineering.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
