The University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical/Clinic Co-ordinator to join their esteemed team. USAIS is a nationally recognised centre of excellence, providing crucial support to individuals with cochlear and auditory implants across the south of England and the Channel Islands. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a service that significantly enhances the quality of life for those with severe and profound hearing loss.

About the Role and Its Impact

As a Medical/Clinic Co-ordinator at USAIS, you will be at the heart of the service, offering essential secretarial and administrative support. You will serve as a central point of contact, ensuring seamless communication between patients, clinicians, and partner organisations. Your role will involve managing patient ongoing care with precision and empathy, directly impacting the patient journey from assessment through to lifelong support. The position is based at the University of Southampton Highfield Campus, offering a standard Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm working schedule.

Key Advantages for Candidates

  • Centre of Excellence: Become part of a nationally recognised institution, working alongside passionate professionals dedicated to innovation and holistic patient well-being.
  • Professional Development: Gain experience in a specialist healthcare setting, enhancing your administrative and patient liaison skills within a complex medical environment.
  • Supportive Environment: The University of Southampton champions equality, diversity, and inclusion, providing a nurturing and supportive workplace.
  • Work-Life Balance: Benefit from a generous holiday allowance, additional university closure days, and support for flexible working arrangements.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path

This role requires a proactive and highly organised individual with a strong commitment to patient care and administrative excellence. Potential candidates should note the following:

  • Communication is Key: Excellent communication skills are paramount, especially the ability to interact sensitively with patients experiencing severe and profound hearing loss, utilizing various communication methods effectively.
  • Meticulous Record Keeping: A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is essential for maintaining patient records, managing sensitive information, and ensuring data integrity. A strong understanding of confidentiality is mandatory.
  • Independent Work and Team Collaboration: You will need to be self-motivated and capable of managing your own workload independently, while also being a supportive team player.
  • Adaptability: The ability to thrive and effectively support colleagues in a potentially noisy working environment is a unique but important aspect of this role.
  • Technical Aptitude: A good working knowledge of complex administrative systems and the ability to cross-check data from multiple sources will be beneficial.
  • Mandatory Checks: A Standard level DBS check will be required for this role, which will be conducted by the University.

This Medical/Clinic Co-ordinator position represents an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to advance their careers in a rewarding and impactful healthcare setting. The University of Southampton offers a competitive salary range of £27,319 to £30,378 per annum for this full-time, permanent role.
