This is a unique opportunity to enter the vital funeral care sector, with comprehensive training and support provided, ensuring that no prior experience in the industry is necessary.

The Opportunity

As a Mobile Funeral Arranger, you will be a cornerstone of support for families during their most challenging times. Your responsibilities will extend across approximately eight funeral homes in the Diss, Halesworth, Beccles, Stowmarket, Attleborough, Wymondham, Dereham, and Breckland areas. This mobile nature of the role offers variety and the chance to connect with diverse communities.

Key Responsibilities and What to Expect:

  • Client Support: Travel to meet and support clients in person and over the phone, arranging visits and providing clear, empathetic answers to their questions.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain positive relationships within the community, becoming a trusted point of contact.
  • Branch Presentation: Ensure funeral homes are consistently clean, safe, and welcoming, maintaining a professional and comforting environment for clients. You will also be responsible for reporting and rectifying any maintenance issues.
  • Digital Proficiency: Utilize various digital systems and devices (computers, tablets, smartphones) to accurately manage client documentation, funeral arrangements, and invoicing.
  • Process Adherence: Refer regulated work, such as funeral plan sales, to dedicated Funeral Plan Arrangers to ensure compliance.
  • Logistical Support: Assist with the manual handling of coffins and the deceased, with full training and appropriate equipment provided for safe practice.
  • Data Management: Accurately update client management applications, ensuring all records are current and precise.

Comprehensive Training and Development: Co-op Funeralcare provides extensive training and ongoing support, meaning you can embark on this career even without prior funeral industry experience. This is an excellent pathway for individuals looking to transition into a service-oriented profession.

Career Growth and Stability: As part of the Co-op, you benefit from a stable and reputable organisation with a strong commitment to its employees. The company offers endless career development opportunities, including apprenticeships, allowing you to grow within the organisation.

Attractive Benefits Package: Beyond a competitive salary of £25,369 per annum (£13.01 per hour), you will receive a host of excellent benefits, including:

  • 30% off Co-op branded products and 10% off other brands in food stores.
  • 23 days of holiday (pro-rata, rising with service).
  • A pension scheme with up to 10% employer contributions.
  • Access to a 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme for confidential support.
  • Virtual GP services and free eye tests.
  • Access to Wagestream for flexible access to your earned pay.

Focus on Community and Values: Co-op Funeralcare is deeply rooted in its co-operative principles, with a strong social purpose and a commitment to building a fairer world. Working here means contributing to a business that prioritises its members, customers, colleagues, and communities.

Key Considerations for Potential Candidates:

  • Driving Licence and Vehicle: A full manual UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this mobile role.
  • Autonomy and Confidence: The ability to work confidently on your own, both during client meetings and when managing a branch independently, is crucial.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with high levels of empathy, discretion, and care, are paramount.
  • Numerical Aptitude: You should be comfortable working with numbers, including cash handling, calculating discounts, and basic data entry/invoicing.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail is necessary to ensure accuracy in documentation and adherence to regulatory policies and processes.
  • IT Literacy: Proficiency with various digital devices and systems is required, with a willingness and ability to learn new applications quickly.
  • Physical Capability: The role involves some physical elements, such as the manual handling of coffins, for which appropriate training and equipment will be provided.

They welcome applications from everyone and actively support candidates with disabilities, offering reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process and participating in the Disability Confident scheme.
