Oncology Clinical Research Associate

Job at AstraZeneca in Greater London

Advance Your Career in Oncology Research with AstraZeneca

Are you a dedicated professional with a passion for oncology and a desire to make a tangible impact on patient lives? AstraZeneca is seeking a motivated and skilled Oncology Clinical Research Associate (CRA) to join their dynamic team. This is a pivotal role that places you at the heart of delivering groundbreaking oncology studies, offering a significant opportunity to shape the future of cancer treatment.

As an Oncology CRA, you will be the primary liaison for investigators and site staff, ensuring the smooth and successful execution of clinical trials. This role demands a blend of scientific understanding, meticulous attention to detail, and exceptional interpersonal skills. If you are looking to grow your expertise within a world-leading pharmaceutical company committed to scientific innovation, this opportunity is designed for you.

Key Advantages for Candidates:

  • Impactful Work: Directly contribute to life-changing oncology research and development, playing a crucial role in bringing innovative cancer therapies to patients.
  • Career Growth & Development: AstraZeneca is committed to fostering professional growth. This role offers clear pathways for advancement, with opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and expand your skill set in a rapidly evolving field.
  • Scientific Excellence: Work with a company at the forefront of oncology research, providing exposure to novel drugs and cutting-edge approaches within one of the industry's broadest oncology pipelines.
  • Collaborative Environment: Join a team that values diverse perspectives and fosters a collaborative spirit, empowering you to contribute meaningfully to the company's mission.
  • Global Reach: Opportunities to travel nationally and internationally, broadening your experience and understanding of global clinical research practices.

Key Considerations for Your Career Path:

This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a structured environment and possess a strong foundation in clinical research principles. To excel as an Oncology CRA at AstraZeneca, consider the following:

  • Scientific Acumen: A Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, preferably in life sciences, is essential. A solid understanding of ICH-GCP, basic GMP/GDP, and relevant local regulations is critical. Be prepared to continuously learn and expand your knowledge of AstraZeneca's therapeutic areas.
  • Operational Expertise: You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of study sites, from preparation and initiation to monitoring and closure. Excellent understanding of clinical study management, including monitoring techniques, drug handling, and data management, is paramount.
  • Attention to Detail: The nature of clinical research demands meticulous accuracy. This role requires a sharp eye for detail in areas such as Source Data Review, Case Report Form review, and Source Data Verification.
  • Communication & Collaboration: As the main point of contact for sites, your ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to build strong collaborative relationships with investigators, site staff, and internal teams will be key to success. Negotiation skills are also highly valued.
  • Adaptability & Problem-Solving: The desirable skills highlight the importance of adaptability, particularly in an environment with remote collaborators. A proactive approach to identifying and resolving study-related issues, alongside a willingness to embrace change and champion more efficient processes, will be advantageous.
  • Technology Proficiency: While not always explicit in day-to-day tasks, an understanding of how technology impacts projects and the ability to develop computer skills are increasingly important in modern clinical research. Familiarity with risk-based monitoring approaches, including remote monitoring, is also beneficial.

AstraZeneca's commitment to diversity and inclusion ensures a welcoming environment for all qualified candidates. If you are ready to embark on a challenging yet rewarding career path in oncology research, and you possess the drive and expertise to make a significant contribution, we encourage you to explore this exciting opportunity.
