If you are driven by purpose and seek an environment that values equality, diversity, and inclusion, this role presents a compelling opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking institution.

About the Role:

As a Philanthropy Officer within the Engagement and Partnerships directorate, you will be instrumental in advancing the Alumni and Philanthropy team's mission. This dynamic role is central to achieving ambitious fundraising targets and plays a crucial part in safeguarding and enhancing the University's reputation on a regional, national, and global stage. You will be working within a collaborative team that includes the Engagement and Events Team, Alumni and Philanthropy Team, and the Corporate Communications team, all dedicated to strategic stakeholder engagement.

Your Impact and Responsibilities:

This position offers a significant opportunity to make a tangible difference. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Database Management & Prospect Research: You will lead the day-to-day management and utilization of the alumni and fundraising database. This includes leveraging data to identify, qualify, and approve potential major donors, both individuals and organizations. A data-led approach to prospect research, assessing wealth, propensity, and affinity, will be key, along with conducting due diligence for gift acceptance.
  • Donor Stewardship: You will be responsible for developing and delivering tailored stewardship activities across all philanthropic income streams. This involves ensuring accurate recording of donations, monitoring trends, and providing exceptional stewardship to major donors through personalized communications and engaging events.
  • Regular Giving & Legacies: You will serve as the primary contact for all regular giving and legacy inquiries, ensuring timely and heartfelt acknowledgment of donors and prospects. You will also co-develop, monitor, and execute communication and stewardship plans for these vital supporter groups.
  • Relationship Management & Event Execution: You will work closely with Philanthropy Leads to track prospect relationship development and solicitations, aligning with team targets. A key aspect of this role will be the planning, development, and execution of high-quality cultivation and stewardship events, requiring professional engagement with senior University staff, High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI), and other influential external stakeholders.

Key Advantages for Your Career Path:

  • Impactful Work: Contribute directly to the University's mission of social mobility and its strategic ambitions, creating lasting positive change.
  • Professional Development: Gain extensive experience in fundraising, donor relations, database management, and event planning within a reputable academic institution. This role offers a solid foundation for a career in advancement and philanthropy.
  • Strategic Engagement: Interact with high-profile stakeholders, including alumni, influential individuals, trusts, and foundations, honing your communication and relationship-building skills at a strategic level.
  • Data-Driven Approach: Develop and refine your skills in prospect research and data analysis, which are increasingly valuable in the philanthropic sector.
  • Inclusive Environment: Join an organization that is genuinely committed to diversity and inclusion, with a supportive approach to recruitment and ongoing employment.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: The University offers a generous benefits package designed to support your well-being and work-life balance, including substantial holiday entitlement, family-friendly policies, excellent pension schemes, and various employee discount and savings schemes.

Considerations for Candidates:

  • Qualifications: A Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience is required, with a Level 4 qualification being desirable. This indicates a need for foundational knowledge or practical experience in a relevant field.
  • Data Proficiency: A strong aptitude for database management and a keen eye for detail are essential, as you will be the first point of contact for the alumni and fundraising database.
  • Interpersonal Skills: The role demands excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Organizational Skills: The ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and ensure accurate data processing is crucial for success.

The University of Bradford offers a vibrant and supportive environment where your contributions will be valued. This Philanthropy Officer role is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and dedicated individual looking to advance their career in the higher education sector and play a vital role in shaping the University's future success.
