As the Principal Architect for APIs, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our technology landscape, ensuring that our systems and processes are aligned with our strategic goals. This role is crucial in driving innovation and enhancing our services to provide exceptional experiences for our customers. Key Responsibilities Maintain the overall Internal and External APIs Technology Strategy and external developer experience. Specify standards, patterns, platform technology (e.g., API Gateways), API governance, and target state for effective at-scale market-unit-wide API management capabilities. Drive technical alignment across the API design community, including Enterprise, Solution Architecture, and Engineering, which spans multiple Business Units (BUs). Educate senior leadership (technology and business) to raise understanding of API-led technology architecture. Analyze industry trends to leverage technology and methodology advances. Set KPIs and perform progress tracking and reporting against target state and API controls. Participate in CTAO Leadership forums, conducting QA and Review of architecture deliverables and strategic API contracts. Serve as the single point of contact and escalation for architecture development across business units and with senior business and technology leadership. Communicate architecture direction and its alignment with business strategy and enterprise direction. Track progress and quality of architecture initiatives. Support business development activities and translate this to strategic API capability build for BGIUK Partnership strategy. What Weâre Looking For Significant experience as an architecture practitioner with designing, operating, and evolving API-based systems, and redesigning applications to be API-driven. Experience in an architecture leadership role in a large organization servicing multiple internal business lines with both centralized and federated platforms. Expertise in modernizing large, complex API/microservices-based systems. Strong problem-solving, strategic, and creative thinking skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Deep and current experience in API Operations and Security, API Traffic Management, and in designing, building, and testing APIs. Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies. Proven track record of influencing, motivating, and developing technology and product teams without having direct line management responsibilities.
