At the core of this mission is Onyx Product Management. This team is instrumental in ensuring that every aspect of Onyx, from its foundational infrastructure to its user-facing data assets and environments, is meticulously designed to maximize impact on R&D. They act as a crucial bridge, partnering with R&D stakeholders and Onyx leadership to shape the strategic roadmap for all customer-facing elements, including data assets, ontology, Knowledge Graph/semantic search, platforms, and data-powered applications.

GSK is seeking an experienced Product Manager II to spearhead the FinOps strategy for all Onyx cloud platforms, products, and services. This is a pivotal role for a product professional passionate about cloud economics and the development of solutions that drive financial transparency and efficiency at scale.

As the FinOps Product Manager II, you will be instrumental in:

  • Owning the Product Lifecycle: Take full ownership of specific features within the FinOps product suite, guiding them from initial concept through to successful adoption and continuous iteration.

  • Enabling Cost Optimization: Design and deliver capabilities that empower engineering teams to make cost-efficient decisions, including resource rightsizing, strategic savings plan management, and the identification of underutilized assets.
  • Supporting Financial Governance: Play a key role in implementing and monitoring cloud financial governance policies, including budget alerts, spend limits, and chargeback/showback mechanisms.
  • Driving User-Centric Design: Conduct in-depth user research with engineers, data scientists, and finance teams to understand their cloud cost management challenges and translate these insights into actionable product requirements.
  • Leveraging Data for Insights: Analyze cloud billing data and other financial inputs to identify spending trends, anomalies, and support the creation of actionable financial reports and forecasts.
  • Collaborating in an Agile Environment: Actively participate in agile development processes, working closely with engineering, UX, and QA teams to ensure timely and high-quality product releases.
  • Fostering Cross-Functional Partnerships: Collaborate effectively with Cloud Platform Engineering, Data Platform Engineering, Finance, and R&D teams to ensure FinOps solutions meet business needs and drive desired financial outcomes.
  • Facilitating Adoption: Develop clear product documentation, user guides, and training materials to ensure successful product adoption and user proficiency.

Advantages for Your Career Path:

  • Strategic Impact: This role offers the unique opportunity to influence the financial strategy and operational efficiency of a major R&D data organization within a leading biopharma company.

  • Direct Contribution to Drug Discovery: See the tangible impact of your work as you help accelerate the discovery and development of new medicines.
  • Agile & Collaborative Culture: Experience a modern, agile work environment that fosters collaboration and innovation.

Key Considerations for Candidates:

  • Cloud Financial Acumen: A strong understanding of cloud billing models, cost drivers, and the service offerings of major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) is essential.
  • Product Management Fundamentals: Demonstrated experience in product management, from ideation to launch and iteration, is crucial.
  • Data Analysis Skills: Proficiency in analyzing financial or operational data using various tools is required to derive actionable insights.
  • Stakeholder Management: The ability to effectively communicate complex technical and financial concepts to diverse audiences is vital for success.
  • Adaptability: As the biopharma and cloud landscapes evolve, the ability to adapt and innovate will be key.

Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree or MBA, FinOps certification, direct experience with FinOps platforms, experience in multi-cloud environments, and an understanding of enterprise financial processes. Prior experience within the life sciences or biopharma industry, with an understanding of scientific research's unique data and compute needs, would be a significant asset.
