An exciting opportunity for a Product Introduction Manager role is available within our Defence Future Programmes team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to be part of the Future Programmes Manufacturing Engineering Leadership team supporting the development of manufacturing processes. This role is supporting a key programme within the OrpheusWorks organisation. Reporting to the Chief of Industrialisation you will be accountable for leading the execution of Manufacturing Product Introduction activities for a key programme in OrpheusWorks. You will develop robust manufacturing Production Technical Packages which are capable of delivering design intent and meeting customer and business requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate & leadtime (SQCD). You will contribute to the development of the product introduction strategy for the business, connecting strategy, design, supply chain, operations, technology and digital stakeholders along with technology partnerships and suppliers to create product introduction strategies and roadmaps. You will work collaboratively with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, who team of Manufacturing Engineers will execute the strategy. You will also have experience of Product Introduction methodologies such as Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process and will be working with internal and external suppliers to create, define and implement several methods of manufacture for a range of future products. Successful delivery of these programmes will ensure both the UK and Rolls-Royce retains combat capability, ensuring freedom of action for the UK and enabling the company to maintain our market share in the Naval, Defence Aero and combat markets. This role provides you with a fantastic opportunity to Product Safety - Responsible for ensuring that process risks which may lead to deviation from design intent are understand, accounted for and mitigated, and for promoting a product safety culture in the organisation Develop talent - Act as professional leader of the product introduction community within Future Programmes, ensuring required competences are in place and promoting the development and growth of the community Develop capability - Develop robust technical packages for new, inloaded and relaunched products which are verified to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate & leadtime. Ensure Manufacturing Engineering technical issues are resolved during product introduction throughout the supply chain Build external relationships - Manage, develop and maintain beneficial product introduction business relationships with customers, service providers, joint ventures, risk and revenue sharing partners and other designated suppliers Quality - Promote a culture of zero defects within the organisation. Support the application of build in quality techniques including APQP during product introduction and ensure all quality proving activities are completed including achievement of Right First Time, yield and Key Characteristics capability targets. Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies and standards Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing - Operate as an active member of the global product introduction leadership team, supporting cross-business and sector collaboration, knowledge sharing, skills and process development to best utilise the available resources to deliver business needs and priorities Minimum standards - Work with Manufacturing Engineering Commodity Leaders and Manufacturing Process Owners from across the wider business to ensure Product Family and Production Standards are defined and applied on new products Qualifications: Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/Foundation degree or other national equivalent). Recognised national or international engineering accreditation (e.g. UK IEng or CEng) where available. Demonstrated experience in manufacturing processes used within Aerospace (or an equivalent regulated industry) and process development methodologies (e.g. Advanced Product Quality Planning). The role is Bristol based, but travel both in the UK and overseas may also be required on an occasional basis. To work for the Rolls-Royce Defence Business there may be a requirement for an individual to hold a level of National Security Vetting (NSV). If the requirement is identified Rolls-Royce will support the application for NSV if the individual does not currently already have this in place. This role requires SC clearance. Please be aware that the priority will be given to employees identified as being at high risk.
