Why This Role Stands Out:

  • Impactful Projects: As a Programme Manager, you will be at the forefront of planning, delegating, monitoring, and controlling all facets of assigned projects and programmes. Your direct contributions will be instrumental in achieving critical objectives, impacting time, cost, quality, scope, and risk management.
  • A Legacy of Innovation: Rolls-Royce is renowned for shaping the modern world and fostering a culture of continuous progress. By joining their Submarines division, you'll be part of an organisation that powers, protects, and connects people globally, working on solutions that make a tangible difference.

  • Flexible Working: The organization embraces hybrid working, offering a locally managed and flexible arrangement that allows employees to balance their time between the office and remote locations, with an average of three days per week expected in the workplace for collaboration and specific needs.

Key Responsibilities and Candidate Advantages:

This role demands a comprehensive understanding of project lifecycle management. Successful candidates will be accountable for:

  • End-to-End Delivery: Ensuring the successful delivery of projects and programmes within defined cost, quality, time, and scope parameters. This is a prime opportunity to hone and showcase your end-to-end project management mastery.
  • Resource Orchestration: Securing and managing the provision of necessary resources from both internal and external providers, highlighting your strategic planning and negotiation capabilities.
  • Integrated Planning: Developing and managing integrated plans and schedules, demonstrating a sophisticated grasp of complex project dependencies and control account management.
  • Financial Acumen: Developing, securing, and meticulously monitoring budgets, forecasting costs, and controlling actual expenditure against allocated budgets, a crucial skill for senior leadership roles.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Acting as the primary point of contact and escalation route, providing timely and transparent reporting to senior stakeholders, which is vital for career progression into more strategic decision-making capacities.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Leading, setting up, developing, and evaluating the performance of project and programme teams. This offers invaluable experience in people management, coaching, and fostering a high-performing team environment.
  • Process Improvement: Ensuring the effective implementation of company management processes and championing Project Management best practices, positioning you as a thought leader in project delivery.

What to Bring to the Table:

Rolls-Royce is seeking individuals who embody their core values of agility, boldness, collaboration, and simplicity. To excel in this role, candidates should demonstrate:

  • Proven Programme/Project Management Experience: Significant experience in managing projects, programmes, or portfolios is essential. The ability to clearly articulate how your past experience has influenced positive outcomes is highly valued.
  • Educational Foundation: A degree-level qualification or equivalent industry experience is expected.
  • Professional Accreditation: Holding an APM Project Management Qualification or equivalent demonstrated PM knowledge is a strong advantage. Membership in a professional body like the APM (MAPM/FAPM) and progress towards a Chartered Qualification (ChPP) will set you apart.
  • Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Strong people management and interpersonal skills, including experience in coaching and developing others, are critical for building and motivating teams.
  • Cross-Functional Experience: Ideally, candidates will have exposure to non-core project management roles such as manufacturing, planning & control, purchasing, commercial, or engineering management, offering a holistic understanding of business operations.
  • Technical Proficiency: A comprehensive understanding of project management and project controls practices, including schedule, risk, performance, and financial management, is required. Experience with systems like SAP and Primavera P6, and their integration, is highly desirable, especially within complex production/manufacturing environments.
  • Security Clearance: Essential for this role is the ability to hold and maintain a Security Check (SC) clearance without caveats. Rolls-Royce will support the application process if you do not currently hold this.
  • Nationality: Due to the nature of the business and asset protection, UK nationality is a requirement. Dual nationals will undergo additional scrutiny.
