About the role

We are looking for a pro-active and motivated individual to join the Faculty of Engineering & Design’s Courses and Assessment Support Team (CAST) as a Programmes Administrator.  The successful candidate will join our dedicated team and play a vital role in supporting the smooth and efficient administration of the Faculty of Engineering & Design’s taught degree programmes. Working closely with both professional services and academic colleagues, you’ll help ensure an excellent experience for our students.

As part of a small, collaborative team, flexibility and teamwork are key. Your main focus will be on assessment-related processes throughout the academic and student lifecycle, but you’ll also provide day-to-day administrative support for teaching, assessment, and student data management.

Key responsibilities include:

Maintaining accurate student records on the University’s database.Supporting Directors of Studies and liaising with external examiners.Responding to enquiries from students and academic staff.Assisting with core assessment and progression activities across departments during peak periods.

Strong digital skills. Comfortable working with university systems, and programme records. Confidence to quickly learn and embrace evolving digital platforms.

 

Great communication skills. Engaging confidently with students, academic colleagues, and external stakeholders.

 

A proactive approach. Taking initiative and working with autonomy when needed.

 

Experience in the use of university-specific software (e.g. Moodle, SAMIS/SITS and Business Objects) is desirable, though not essential, since training will be provided. Most important is an interest in our work, a willingness to become fully involved in both team business, and the life of the faculty and its departments.

This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) open ended basis from April 2026
