We are looking for a highly capable Engineering Manager to join our team at the GSK UK R&D hub at Stevenage (Hertfordshire, UK). The purpose of this role is to act as the technical authority for Process Safety and Heavy Utilities Mechanical Systems to provide engineering support to the R&D sites in Europe (Stevenage, Harlow and Addenbrookes (UK), Berlin and Heidelberg (Germany) Tres Cantos (Spain), and Siena (Italy) for the delivery and operation of facilities, to ensure that they are safe and legally compliant. We are looking for an engineering leader with a strong technical underpinning in mechanical systems. The role exists to deliver professional engineering expertise as a single point of leadership, providing sound technical direction through strategic intervention and progressive facilities Investment planning. Ensuring continuous improvement mindset on asset performance, resulting in optimized operational lifecycle of mechanical systems. The role is responsible for oversight of site compliance statutory requirements for Pressure Systems and Hazardous Utility Systems across GSK European Facilities ensuring GSK Engineering Standards adherence. Key Responsibilities (include) Ensure compliance with Engineering Standards and perform duties of the Technical Authority for standards as per RDES Europe register of Technical Authorities Execute remediation plans from policy and standards gap assessments. Specifically, drive the Pressure Systems and Process Safety gap mitigation to closure, reporting regular progress to the RDES management. Inform Facility Investment Planning across discipline and provide ongoing technical oversight of Capital Projects to deliver functional safe, reliable, compliant and sustainable systems. Ensure that Root Cause Analysis is performed when contract requirements or compliance with GSK standards and national legislation associated with mechanical services are not met. Responsible Person for the following statutory areas for the sites named above: Pressure Systems as defined by PSSR (2000), including mechanical integrity of pipework; Hazardous Utility Systems (Process Safety for RDES managed Infrastructure) Compressed Air Systems and Compressed Gasses. Location / Travel: Please note that this position is located at our UK R&D hub at Stevenage (Hertfordshire), but the successful applicant may need to travel as part of the delivery of their role to any of the sites in the network. We anticipate that travel will be a maximum of 10% of their time. About You: The successful applicant must have an in-depth practical knowledge / experience of Mechanical Engineering, ideally gained from working in a highly-regulated industry. Ideally, you will be working towards your engineering chartership. You will be solution-orientated in your approach, with strong interpersonal skill suited to building working relationships across multiple stakeholder groups as you will be working in a complex interdisciplinary matrix environment. You will be resilient, resourceful and accountable as well as having a strong strategic and continuous improvement mindset. CLOSING DATE for applications: Monday 12th of January 2026 (COB). Basic Qualifications: Strong mechanical engineering knowledge / experience / qualification (eg; Degree in Mechanical Engineering). Proven record of management of Mechanical systems within complex Research and Development/Manufacturing processes / facilities (ideally obtained from working in a highly regulated industry under GLP/GxP requirements). Ability to establish strong working relationships with key internal and external (contract) partners, to deliver appropriate site hard services. Proficient in programme management of Capital Projects. Good demonstrable Matrix management skills and stakeholder management.
